Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro Village

Wonderful family-friendly hotel with a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the location is excellent. A great place for a relaxing family holiday, we really enjoyed our stay!

This was a mixture of enjoyment and absolute couldn’t wait to leave It started with rooms that were directly beside the road, which is very busy and very loud The first night no one slept well We had booked two rooms at the children’s pool area Motor bikes revving cars screeching sirens It was a nightmare Then there was the added joy of smelling sulphur or sewage at all hours of the day night - so bad it was gag inducing So, we changed rooms. And paid even more money for quieter rooms My husband and I were fortunate to get a ocean view suite; and it was expensive on top of already being expensive Our daughter and her husband and baby were moved 2 rooms in away from the road, and it was still incredibly loud This also was charged at an additional extra premium We waited all day for the new room, finally after 17:00 they could change rooms Her new room was quieter, but the closet smelled overwhelming of urine - it took another day to have this cleaned and disinfected Their patio furniture was worn, dirty and old Definitely not the quality we paid for Our suite was bigger with a huge balcony with a dirty outdoor tub that wasn’t cleaned once in our week stay - so obviously not utilised or enjoyed The patio furniture was stained and torn - again not what I expected for a 5* resort I woke up early and watched the sun rise, which was beautiful- with the added stench of sewage with my coffee Our room didn’t have coffee cups at first - or sugar - or creamer or spoons - or a beach bag - or fresh towels during our stay One day we had new towels and they were torn - just not 5 star The beds were rock hard - by the end of the week I had aching shoulders and hip bones from the hardness of the bed They advertised a pillow menu, but then didn’t have any pillows available Two days in a row the grounds keepers were using blowers and cutters at 06:40 in the morning It was just too early on holiday to be woken to garden machines cleaning Here’s what was great The beach The buffets The wait staff were fantastic The location is lovely with local shops It is an hours drive from the airport - do rent a car The pool is lovely but not heated A great cold plunge experience I’m not sure if I’d stay again - as it wasn’t really a 5* experience- especially considering what we paid for all inclusive Too many caveats for what’s not included Fill the fridge with more than one beer each day Liquor isn’t included in the rooms, but it is at the bars So having a drink at night is possible if you go to the bar to get it No ice machines either - which was not the end of the world- but again not in keeping with 5* The jury is out on a return visit - but it looks unlikely

I really enjoyed my stay at Iberostar Playa de Muro Village. The hotel was really nice, the food was incredible and there was always something to do. I had a lot of fun and met some really nice people there. The whole animation team was amazing, everyone was really friendly and made the days so much more fun. But I especially want to mention Iker. He really stood out to me because he was always so friendly, easy to talk to and somehow always managed to make me laugh and put me in a better mood. The activities were way more fun when he was around :) I had such a good time and I’m definitely going to miss this place. Thank you Iker for making my holiday even better!!

There is a lot to like, mostly related to the staff. Erica in the kids entertainment, Thomas doing evening kids football, Roberto cooking specials, Rosa by the pool and Claudia in the restaurant are all superb. Thank you to them for saving our holiday. But….this is not a 5* hotel despite the 5* prices. Location wise Tui describe it as being in a laid back area surrounded by the national park. In reality it is next to a busy road of traffic, bars and typical holiday tat and late night singing. It is built up not relaxed. The tennis court is like the worst municipal park court you’ll find. Beach and pool super busy, difficult to get a lounger. But I guess that is August for you. The kids club is only 2.5 hrs per day in the morning and the spa only opens the steam & sauna for adults in the afternoon, which therefore kind of makes that impossible to go to if you have kids. Food is for the most part good. There are certain parts that are excellent and 5* standard such as sone of the specials, but there is a lot more 3*. The food from the cafe which is provided if you arrive/leave outside of restaurant hours is outstandingly bad. Think airport food left on a counter for an hour or two. Last and most definitely least is the Tui experience. The transfer is 1hr 45mins not 1hr as stated - important consideration for people with young children. There is no human to speak to as it is all done via one of the worst apps ever invented and the phone line is the joy of automated multiple options and then at least a 10 min hold before you just give up. If you can get a good discount and you want a busy place of classic holiday bars etc this is might be worth a go. If like me you paid full school holiday prices, you’ll feel like you’ve been worked over by a laughing corporate middle manager from Tui who authorised the website dishonesty to hit his bonus this quarter.
