Iberostar Selection Playa de Palma

My wife and I have just spent a most enjoyable week at the Iberostar Playa de Palma hotel, Majorca. The room was excellent with a great view of the sea and coast. It was comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The food in the restaurant was outstanding. The swimming pool was very good and although many guests had an irritating habit of reserving sunbeds, it was usually possible to find two vacant beds. The hotel is splendidly located opposite a bus stop where it is possible to catch a bus for Palma, the Aquarium and the airport. However it is people who make the world go round and here this hotel also triumphs. All the staff we met were cheerful, friendly and helpful. On our arrival Valeriy greeted us with a very warm welcome and Felicity explained very clearly what we needed to know. She was also very helpful on future occasions when we enquired about 2027. Daniela was also very helpful when we enquired about room options for next year. Laura in the restaurant was most attentive, friendly and very efficient. We bumped into Jose on a number of occasions and he explained very clearly the best places to visit in Palma. Alessandro and Paula were also very helpful. Ana in the Spa provided us with an excellent massage. We both enjoyed the Spanish lesson given by Lukas and greatly appreciated his notes. Our overall impression was that all the staff enjoy working at the hotel and that they want to do their best to give the guests a great time, which is what we had. We have already booked a room for 2027!

Having read some of the previous reviews of this hotel, we almost cancelled our booking and decided to stay elsewhere. I’m so pleased we didn’t, as I honestly struggled to understand why some of the previous reviews were so negative. We have fairly high standards and have stayed in some lovely hotels over the years, and we found this hotel to be lovely. Our room was clean and spacious, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the drinks were good. We also enjoyed the food and found there was a good choice. There is also a lovely resident black cat at the hotel who is extremely friendly and caught the attention of many guests. We informed the hotel that he appears to have ear mites, and we hope they will take him to the vet and look after him. He was clearly very popular with guests, so hopefully the hotel will make sure he receives the care he needs . The location is excellent — only around 10 minutes by taxi from Palma Airport. There is a long, sandy beach directly opposite the hotel, with beautiful turquoise water. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, so there is lots to do within walking distance. We were surrounded by quite a lot of German guests during our stay, but this didn’t bother us at all. Taxis were also frequent and easy to get. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and were very glad that we decided not to cancel. Based on our experience, we would happily advise not to listen to the recent negative reviews.

We splurged for the Prestige and it was worth every penny. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It allowed us access to a pool that was adults only which since it was a getaway for the two of us was so nice. The hotel is right across the street from a beautiful stretch of beach. The morning brunch had a stunning array of variety, and there were excellent restaurants nearby such as Al Faro and El Patio. The room was amazing and the staff checked in multiple times a day to ensure everything was perfect and restocked. Special thanks to Mercedes at the front desk and Vilma who took such good care of our room. I highly recommend this as a place to stay for a couples getaway.

We recently spent 4 days at this hotel. Great location on the beach and a great pool area. Service was very good all around the property. The breakfast buffet is Super good with many choices and 2 chefs cooking as well. i did not do the dinner buffet, but i looked in and that look outstanding as well.

So disappointed !!! How can TripAdvisor gives 5 stars and 2026 award for this hotel? We stayed for 12 nights and paid over 10,000 US $ for a scam star prestige hotel!!! Note: I am Iberostar club member for more than 12 years star prestige…and had wonderful vacation in Tenerife/ Canary Islands (Joia El Mirador by Iberostar), in Dominican Republic / Punta Cana in Mexico, etc.) This hotel in my opinion is not more than 4 star hotel It said “adults only” but is not!! It has a small zone on the 8th floor with 6x3 meters tub with cold water and a few chaise lounges and 2 beach beds with canopy with no possibility to control the sun or shade… So old design and technology… You cannot swim in that “tub” or enjoy that mini space … Bought half board and they serve you remaining sandwiches from breakfast and a few fruits… No bars with extraordinary pastries and sandwiches and presentation like Grand Iberostar El Mirador in Tenerife… Nothing… During nights we had to “enjoy” the noise and fights from drunken people who are on the streets …and non stop music from other places close to this hotel Nightmare… The employees are nice; they try so hard to serve you but the management and organization of this Iberostar hotel is at low Quality level from Star Prestige point of view and in comparison with other Iberostar / Joia El Mirador by Iberostar or Grand Iberostar from Maya Riviera or Punta Cana Conclusion: nice 4 stars hotel but not 5 and Not Star Prestige
