Insotel Club Cala Mandia

We stayed at Insotel Cala Mandia Resort in a swim-up room in Area A (room 1040). Unfortunately, our overall experience did not live up to our expectations, particularly considering the price of the stay. The first thing we noticed when approaching our room was a strong, musty smell. Inside, the air felt heavy and damp, while the bathroom had a noticeable sewage smell. The room itself was clean, but clearly showed signs of age and poor maintenance. There was no coffee machine in the room, only a kettle and two cups – but no coffee or tea was provided. During our stay, the cups were neither replaced nor cleaned, which we found surprising. The outdoor area belonging to our swim-up room was spacious and one of the better aspects of the accommodation. There was a large double sun mattress with cushions, an additional sunbed, parasol, three chairs and a table, as well as a drying rack for clothes. However, due to the location of room 1040, we did not get any sun on our terrace or swim-up pool until around 11 am. Unfortunately, the resort in general felt tired and outdated. The areas outside the rooms did not appear to be regularly swept or cleaned, and there was visible dirt and dust collecting along the corridors. Soundproofing was also very poor. Noise from the hallway could be heard extremely clearly inside the room, particularly in the bedroom where the children sleep. The bed was extremely hard and had no mattress topper, and I woke up with a sore back. We spent most of our time in Area A, although we also visited the water slides in Area C. These were great fun and definitely a highlight for our daughter. One positive surprise was the availability of sunbeds. There was no need to set an alarm and rush down at sunrise to reserve one. We usually went to the pool at around 8:30 am and were able to find sunbeds directly in front of the pool. We were, however, surprised that a deposit was required for pool towels. At a resort in this price range, this felt unnecessary. Food – by far the biggest disappointment The food was unfortunately the weakest part of our stay. The selection was limited and much of the food was remarkably bland. Unlike many other all-inclusive resorts we have visited, there seemed to be very little variation from day to day and no real themed evenings or noticeably different cuisines. We were so disappointed with the buffet that on several occasions we chose to pay to eat elsewhere despite having booked all-inclusive. The meal times were also very rigidly enforced, which contributed to long queues. The restaurants frequently seemed understaffed. Staff struggled to clear and prepare tables quickly enough, leaving guests waiting even when tables could potentially have been available. The same lack of staffing was noticeable throughout the resort. When arriving for breakfast at around 9 am, tables and areas from the previous evening's entertainment had sometimes still not been cleared, with bottles and glasses left behind. Unfortunately, many members of staff appeared tired, stressed and irritated rather than welcoming. We completely appreciate that this may be a consequence of being understaffed, but it inevitably affects the guest experience. The restaurants Fifties was a pleasant improvement. We were barely acknowledged when we first arrived, but once seated our waiter took good care of us. There was also some entertainment during the meal, which we enjoyed. Fifties was not included in our all-inclusive package, but we found the prices reasonable. South was easily the culinary highlight of our entire stay. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, the food was genuinely delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. It showed what the resort is capable of when the setting, food and service come together. Unfortunately, Surf – the only à la carte restaurant included in our all-inclusive package – was a major disappointment. The food was bland and forgettable, and guests had to collect their own drinks. It did not feel like an à la carte experience. Overall There are some positives: the swim-up outdoor space was generous, the water slides were great for our daughter, we never struggled to find sunbeds, and our dinner at South was excellent. However, these positives could not compensate for the overall condition of the resort, the damp and sewage smells around our room, poor soundproofing, uncomfortable bed, inadequate cleaning of communal areas, obvious understaffing and – above all – the disappointing food. For an all-inclusive resort at this price level, we expected considerably better. Insotel Cala Mandia has a lot of potential, particularly for families, but in our experience it is in serious need of renovation, better maintenance, improved staffing levels and a major upgrade to the quality and variety of the food.

We stayed in this hotel for a week in september 26 it was not what we thought it was over run with children so if a couple avoid.We had a nice room and the shower was good aswell but when it came to the food time it was total chaos queuing was terrible we have never experienced this in the hotels we have visited over the world before.I would advise you get a safe we did but just before we left i left two rings on the side and they were taken when we were leaving we spoke to reception and again no one spoke english never again and avoid avoid avoid this hotel.

We loved this hotel from start to finish. We were in the adult only Suites. Pool area was tremendous and pool attendants were super helpful.We were AI,food was very good. Entertainment was not to our taste but very popular with families. Great areas throughout the resort for families to enjoy. Spa was lovely and nice treatments offered at discount. Small beach nearby was lovely and a nice walk. Staff throughout were 😃 great. We had a great holiday.

Definitely a hotel for family’s with so much for them to do. Staff helpful and polite but I must mention David from customer relations he has made our holiday with how helpful he has been getting a few things sorted so promptly.

This hotel is perfect for family’s. I would like to personally thank David on the customer relations desk who was so helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had a lovely stay. Thank you
