TUI SUNEO Platja D'or

This was my second visit and my farthers 6th or 7th all the other visits were before TUI toke over and I have to say we were disappointed The good The staff are still friendly and welcoming Yes the rooms are basic but that’s fine you only need to wash and shower in them The bad The drinks the quality of the sprits has dropped I’m not sure if they are using low alcohol but I am a gin and tonic drinker and the gin was not good The food lukewarm is a understatement cold if best unless you get it just after a tray change it’s cold

Excellent location! Hotel is just across a very quiet road from a wonderful sandy beach/bay. Rooms were a decent size. Safe is free to use. Tea/coffee facilities. Flat screen TV. Walls paper thin - you will likely hear your neighbours! Bathroom has a bizarre glass door which has a gap down the middle where the doors don't meet and no lock, not ideal if you value your privacy in the bathroom. Shower height not adjustable but good pressure and hot water. Beds were awful. Metal frames on wheels (reminded me of hospital beds!) and a very hard uncomfortable mattress on top. The room was very dusty and there were lots of hairs on the floor, didn't feel as clean as it should've been. One buffet restaurant for all meals. Food was basic, repetitive and lukewarm, as expected in a 3 star all-inclusive. Entertainment was sparse and mediocre. Pool area good. Pool towels are 10 euro refundable deposit per towel and can only be changed every 4 days - this doesn't seem enough. Queues at the bar but goes down quickly. Drinks taste weak. Corridors are dark and narrow, lifts are small. The majority of the guests were elderly, it did feel a bit like a rest home at times rather than a hotel, especially in the restaurant with lots of coughing and spluttering, and people with mobility issues. Quite a clicky hotel with returning guests who know each other and like their particular seats! Overall i think the hotel could do with a deep clean and update throughout. Fantastic location, adequate hotel.

I travelled solo to this hotel. Check in was quick not that welcoming on checking in. Solo traveller allocated a single room which was so small. Room 150 first floor opposite the seating / bar area. I absolutely hated my room. Going on the balcony was like being a fish in a goldfish bowl it wasnt private and whenever I went on the balcony people would look up. This room also lacked peace due to people being in the drinking area and also the loud music from the entertainment. I did address my concerns to Sarah the Tui rep. This hotel doesnt have anything surrounding it. No shops no bars and if you did want bars and shops you did have to walk. Restaurant staff I found they didn't want to be there to some it was a chore to smile. I absolutely loved the beach and the beautiful walks and how clean the beach was. I did meet some lovely people on holiday too many names to mention. I didnt join in with the daily entertainment. I enjoyed the food but some times food was served luke warm or cold. I personally wouldn't go on holiday to this hotel or area again. I didn't feel that is was value for money. I spend less for 2 weeks in lanzarote and I get a double room. Honest review.

Just returned from another two week stay. Firstly the pros... Rooms, fairly basic but housekeeping staff, excellent. Food, plenty of choice throughout the day, decent quality, not fine dining but very acceptable. Pool area, never ventured...with a Caribbean ' look alike' on the doorstep, why would. I ! Reception staff, helpful and friendly Now the cons. Some of the dining room staff, really need to take a look at their arttitude, firstly to their jobs, and secondly to customers...a surly attitude doesn't please. Lasty, and presuably solvable, the food was lukewarm, even cold on some occasions. All in all though a great holiday, and good value. .

Overall, depending upon what you want, will influence your impressions. Do you want to be confined to a hotel or venture out? Location: 5min walk to local beach, with thatched parasols and a safe box (for €10 hire). 20min walk either direction, to bars/nightlife (buses or bike hire available) Pool: hotel supplies 3day towel hire for €10 deposit and free use of water aids “very useful” Rooms: adequate with Aircon/balcony fridge etc Good housekeeping Paper thin walls though (you're hear your neighbour - loud n clear) TV - naturally all in Spanish Bars: local brew, with very pleasant staff Food: simple, but plenty of choice with wine (chefs very pleasant but waiting staff, not a happy bunch) Entertainment: staff try well, with afternoon & evenings activities to participate in
