Last time we reviewed VIVA Blue we left a 5 star review with the title ‘Lovely Experience….every time’ however sadly we’ve now has to change it. We spent 11 nights in Oct which was at least our 6th time staying Viva Blue (including supporting them through COVID). I have to it seems to have lost its warm welcome that we use to experience. Firstly, we were not greeted with a welcome back to VIVA when arriving. Previously we always felt we received a warm welcome back which was always a lovely way to start the holiday. We had family fly over from Australia to stay with us in Viva, and we requested to see if they could be located in an apartment near us. We were told they would be able to accommodate them near us. So, I’m not sure if it was a language barrier, or a joke, when they literally put us at 1 end of Block 1 and the other room at the far end of Block 3 (i.e. as far way as humanly possible)! No welcome gift this year (always book & check in online). Room had a couple of issues such as both TV’s not working (1 due to batteries), or the safe not working or having instructions (such as setting a code). Once reported we were told they would be fixed the safe instructions were never forthcoming and we decided to simply go out and buy our own batteries since VIVA wasn’t going to replace them. One of the new bar staff (doing the tables) was fantastic & entertained whenever serving, however majority them seemed rude and often not engaging at all. We generally go out and eat but for 1 night we decided we would try the buffet. The 6 of us went to take a seat after paying as instructed, but were quickly forced to move to a really dire room at the back. While drinks we included in the buffet, as we were seated in the back room, we were not able to order of the QR code. While we got drinks when we were sat down the gentleman in the room blatantly ignored us the rest of the time (he generally works in the bar and has been working at VIVA since we’ve been coming and always felt he was rather rude). It really was a poor experience, and the food quality was poor compared to the rest of Playa de Muro (though we did expect it since it was a buffet). Even the children’s entertainment seems to have lost its sparkle (it use to fantastic fun). Been trimmed down a lot and was not as engaging as it once was. For example, after Kids Mini Disco there was always a couple of activities on (such as football) for the kids, but now it was on some nights they might do something but not as much fun as previous times. Even the club songs at the end of the nights has been cut down to 1 (or a couple of nights not at all). Housekeeping is the shining light. Great attentive staff who surprising we felt were the most welcoming to talk to. Maybe some staff training could be led by the housekeeping team, they were always smiling and engaging. Playa de Muro itself is fantastic as always. Many great restaurants within walking distance (El Tabal a favourite), beach is spectacular, friendly service in area & Ice Cream just opposite the hotel on the way to the beach is beautiful (and well-priced). While a lovely hotel, and majority of staff are pleasant enough I think our next trip to Playa de Muro we will look at other alternatives and hopefully more friendly and warm (particularly for returning guests)

We spent a wonderful week at the resort. During our stay, we celebrated my son's birthday, and thanks to Carmen from the hotel team, it became an unforgettable moment. She kindly arranged a birthday cake, which was served in the restaurant while the staff sang "Happy Birthday" - it made the day really special. The entire team was exceptionally friendly and professional. The food was delicious with a wide variety of choices. We enjoyed our time at the resort and looking forward to returning in the future.

Excellent location, lovely staff. Room was absolutely sparkling clean, facilities were amazing. The only downside was there was only one disabled parking spot for the whole resort which is no were near enough but that is it other than that the resort is very disabled friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be returning next year.
