Zafiro Palace Alcudia

This was our second stay in Zafiro Palace in Alcudia( tried Palma No va & C’an Picafort before) which did not disappoint! Staff everywhere in hotel are so enthusiastic , polite & always willing to help! We found food & standard of service excellent especially in specialised restaurants! Entertainment was good & our granddaughter aged 3 adores Yzzy so loved attending the mini disco each day in the pool & the same in the evening! Entertainment staff do such a good job & always had various activities in the evening keeping the toddlers amused! We attended Yzzy’s b’day party & I was very impressed at how well organised it was! We stayed in a lovely suite & our family stayed in a suite with a private pool in block 1 - easy to get around the hotel from here too. The cleaning staff were excellent too & so cheerful keeping both our suites immaculate! Gromds if hotel very well kept too! Thank you to all the lovely staff for making our stay most memorable as it was to celebrate our Gilden wedding anniversary!

We had a lovely family holiday at Zafiro Palace Alcudia overall. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, and almost every request was dealt with immediately. The evening entertainment was a real highlight for the children. The shows were fun, and we especially enjoyed the music, magician and bubble acts. The Japanese restaurant was excellent and definitely our favourite. The Veranda Grill was also quite good. Unfortunately, the buffet was rather disappointing. There is plenty of choice, but the quality and taste of the food do not really match what I would expect from a 5-star hotel. At breakfast, guests have to get their own coffee and tea from machines, which I personally find quite surprising for a hotel of this category. The juices also tasted very artificial and were far from freshly made. We stayed in October and were also surprised by the long queues for breakfast after 9 a.m., especially considering that this is not even peak season. The biggest issue, however, is the overall condition of the hotel. In my opinion, it is in urgent need of renovation. The pools, rooms, sunbeds, lamps, stage, stairs, playground and many other areas look worn, rusty and outdated. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to understand the 5-star rating. My parents were staying in Building 3 and one afternoon returned to find their room flooded because water was coming through the ceiling. They were moved to another room with a terrace, but when my little son touched the outdoor shower hose, the entire fitting came out of the wall. Behind the terraces, the whirlpools had already been stacked away for winter, which made the area look rather neglected. The football pitch also needs some attention, as the nets are badly torn and the whole area has clearly seen better days. We did not use the spa or kids’ club, so I cannot comment on those facilities. Overall, we still had a nice family holiday thanks to the friendly staff, the entertainment and some of the restaurants. However, considering the current condition of the property and the quality of some of the facilities and food, I feel the hotel is far too expensive for what it offers. In its present state, it unfortunately does not feel like a true 5-star hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel more than ten times over the past eight years, both with my family and as a couple. During our most recent stay, the food was good, although we felt that the quality at the sushi restaurant had declined slightly compared to previous visits. The mattresses in our room really should be replaced, as they were far too soft. If they are the original mattresses from when the hotel first opened, they are definitely due for replacement, especially considering that this is a five-star hotel. Other than that, the staff are very friendly and the service is excellent.

Really nice hotel & sizeable rooms. Food is always excellent with many choices. Stayed there on two occasions now & both times good although the latter was very noisy with young children. If that is a bother to anyone watch your dates don't clash with school holidays. If you have kids then loads for them to do. 5 minutes walk to the main drag where there are many other eating places & shops. Recommended!

This was our 2nd visit in two years (and we have also been to the sister hotel in Andratx) so we knew what to expect. We had a lovely junior suite room in block 4 with a great view overlooking the pools (which we selected ahead of time at an optional cost). The room was spotless, very large and comfortable. We found the staff to be excellent on reception, buffet and Veranda restaurant. Breakfast at the Veranda was new for us this time and a welcome addition as the breakfast buffet is extremely busy. Similar to some other reviews, there were a lot of pre school children and babies at the hotel and this sometimes made for a noisy and slightly stressful breakfast experience. One recommendation for the hotel would be to section off an area in the buffet restaurant for adults only should they choose to go there. In the same way that they have an adults only pool and loungers. We deliberately chose B&B because of the proximity to the local restaurants which were mainly of very good quality, particularly by the marina where we had some excellent meals. The old town is also only 5 mins away in a cab and it is well worth a visit. The hotel staff were very helpful in arranging a lovely, good value boat trip to Formentor Beach. I would recommend this hotel but if you are after total peace and quiet and an adult sanctuary then it may not be for you.
