Dickwella Resort & Spa

4 nights with small family on honeymoon. ​ We wanted to leave a positive review for Dickwella Beach Resort because the staff on the whole were kind, a large number of them tried very hard, and the room we were given was fantastic (albeit a bit dated). However, our overall experience was severely let down by a lack of management control and responsiveness on key issues. ​The Positives: ​The Room & Staff: Our room was spacious and wonderful, and many staff members were genuinely kind and hardworking. ​The Coastline: While the immediate beach can be difficult to swim at due to the strong waves, the wild coast is beautiful in its own way. If you are looking for calmer waters for swimming, there are other beaches further up the coast. ​The Food: The dinner food was good quality, though note that drinks are not included with dinner. ​The Downsides & Concerns: ​Tired and Dated: The resort overall is quite expensive for what it is, and it feels somewhat dated and in need of fresh investment. It also feels a bit confused about its identity, trying to cater to every single type of traveler. ​Safety Concerns (Dogs): There are dogs on the property. Unfortunately, one dog nipped a child during our stay. When we reported this to the hotel staff, they seemed somewhat concerned but ultimately unwilling to take any real action. ​Extreme Noise on the Final Night: On our last night, a large group of local university students arrived, and the hotel appeared entirely geared toward accommodating them—likely in an effort to maximize revenue. This resulted in extremely loud music, with guests bringing base bins and JBL speakers, and the hotel even setting up its own speakers. It was deafeningly loud until about 2:30 AM, making sleep impossible for children and adults alike. ​Unresponsive Management: When we complained about the all-night noise, management offered apologies but refused to do anything meaningful to rectify the situation. We were given a sleepless night and were refused even a small gesture of goodwill (such as covering our modest £40 bar bill or offering a partial refund for that night), despite being given multiple opportunities to make it right. ​ Verdict: Dickwella Beach Resort has a lot of potential thanks to its location, a hard-working team of staff, and lovely rooms. However, until management tightens up its safety protocols regarding animals and learns how to balance revenue-driven events with the basic right of paying overnight guests to sleep, it is difficult to fully recommend.

We recently stayed at Dickwella Resort & Spa, and it was a truly memorable experience. When we arrived, there was a minor issue with our booking as the resort was fully booked. However, the Resort Manager, Nadun, handled the situation exceptionally well. He was extremely polite, generous, and professional. Not only did he resolve the issue quickly and seamlessly, but he also went out of his way to offer us a great package/deal to balance out the situation. His warm hospitality and quick problem-solving completely turned things around for us. Special thanks to Nadun for his exceptional customer service! A special mention must also go to the food—everything served was delicious, fresh, and of great quality with a wonderful variety. Between the beautiful surroundings, superb food, and outstanding management, our stay was fantastic. We highly recommend Dickwella Resort & Spa to anyone looking for a memorable getaway!
