Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok

From arrival to departure this hotel has it all. The atmosphere is upmarket and serene, so clean and tranquil too. There is always something happening, a singer or an afternoon tea dance. The rooms are amazing with fantastic beds and very powerful shower. The hotel is located on the river side which is perfect for river cruises and commuting across the river. The service is where the Shangri La really comes into its own, everything has been planned for utmost comfort for its guests. The reception staff are clear and concise, the restaurant staff are attentive and the bar staff are the best, they are the front face of the hotel and wow they all make you feel as if you have known them for years. Fon was amazing, making sure that we always had a drink be it an apple juice, tea or alcohol. So impressed. What a great hotel.

We spent 3 nights at Shangri-La Bangkok in a Deluxe River View Room in the Shangri-La Wing, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel exudes luxury from the moment you arrive. The staff are there to open the doors, warmly welcome you and take care of your luggage, setting the tone for a truly five-star experience. The lobby is absolutely mesmerising, with a beautiful atmosphere that makes a lasting first impression. Our room was beautiful, with stunning views overlooking the river. Everything about the room and the hotel made it clear that we were staying somewhere special. The river views were a particular highlight and added to the overall experience. Despite the hotel having a large number of rooms, the lifts are incredibly efficient. We never had to wait for a lift and rarely had to share one with other guests, which was a surprisingly nice touch and made getting around the hotel effortless. The location is also excellent. The hotel is within walking distance of the ferry pier and a BTS station, making it incredibly convenient for exploring Bangkok and getting around the city. Overall, Shangri-La Bangkok delivers on its five-star reputation, combining luxurious surroundings, attentive service, beautiful river views and a fantastic location. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay and would happily return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious stay in Bangkok.

We found the Shangri La an excellent place to stay in Bangkok. It is very well located on the river, near a pier and a bts station which makes transport easy. The staff were all very helpful. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with everything you could want. We used the Horizen lounge which also had a great breakfast service and great views. The rooms are a good size but a little dated but in good order and the shower was good. We would definitely return if in Bangkok

Wow! What an amazing hotel... Service was above and beyond and the facilities were great. Breakfast was the best we have ever seen and the kids loved the mini bar experience. Definitely worth getting a room with balcony to get the river vibes.

This was a oneday stopover during the IMF/World Bank meetings, so I did not have the opportunity to experience the hotel for very long. Overall, however, my impression was positive, particularly in terms of value for money. Is it the most luxurious or bestfunctioning fivestar hotel in Bangkok? Probably not. Some of the rooms and amenities feel a little dated, and in our case the room phone was not working. That said, the staff were very friendly, helpful and genuinely willing to assist, and the location is also very convenient. Overall, I would rate Shangri-La Bangkok 4 out of 5. At the price point it often sells for, it offers very good value and I would happily recommend it, particularly to travellers looking for a well-located, comfortable five-star hotel without paying the very top end of Bangkok luxury pricing.
