We stayed at the Apsara from 11th till 19th January after spending 3 nights in Bangkok and 2 nights in Elephant Hills, this was going to be relaxing beach time after a hectic week. When we arrived at the Apsara at 15.10 we knew that we should be able to arrive, check in and unpack and relax, this wasn't quite as straightforward though !. We checked in with reception and they gave us a welcome drink and asked us to take a seat, so far so good..., we were then called over and asked to have a chat with a guy sitting by a PC, he confirmed our details and then explained that unfortunately they did not have a room for us for the duration of our stay ( this had been booked over a year ago via a travel agent ),.he made us an offer of upgrading us from our booked room to a pool via room and b&b to AI and then changing hotels from 16th -19th.....we were extremely annoyed at this as we had booked the holiday to celebrate my 60th birthday, we did not want to pack our cases again and move after the initial stays in Bangkok and Elephant hills, so we declined the offer and he seemed shocked that we had turned down "his wonderful offer", we then asked did he have a room for us ?, after a few minutes he returned and gave us keys to a room. With a side on sea view, which was what we originally booked. When we returned to reception after unpacking, we could see several other guests all been offered this deal as they didn't have the rooms for them, this appears to be the way this hotel operates, by over booking their rooms and moving people after a few days, this is not what you expect when you pay for your holiday, so be warned !. The hotel itself is in a lovely location situated on the beach with a large infinity pool looking over the beach, the rooms are large and clean, but they do lack storage and there were ony 6 coat hangers in the wardrobe. We only ate in the main restaurant for breakfast as we were b&b, there is a good selection of food, but unless you have the food cooked for you, omelette or fried eggs, the buffet food was never hot, only warm. We used Kalikkos beach bar for drinks and booked to our room number, they had happy hour twice a day 1200-1300 and 1700-1800, there was a good selection of cocktails to choose from, but during our stay we discovered that this was not owned by Apsara and if you were AI you would have to get drinks from the bar next to the restaurant,.we also had pizzas at Kalikkos which were really tasty. Overall this is a lovely hotel, but, be warned when you book you may be asked to move hotels for part of your holiday...

Had a fantastic week at Apsara, got our room early around 10:15am. The hotel reception couldn’t do enough for us, check in wasn’t till 2:30pm and they asked if we wanted to shower in the spa as the room wasn’t quite ready. But didn’t need to in the end. We were all inclusive and had a room overlooking the elephants in the swim up pool. You could see the sea which was nice. Room was huge and had everything we needed. Two bottles of water everyday. Food was buffet style and was excellent. Drinks were good but the draft Chang wasn’t great, bottles are much nicer but not included. Cocktail list was huge and I even asked for different ones making up, no problem at all. Banana milkshakes with Malibu and dark rum, delicious. Was a strange set up that you couldn’t order from the beach bar, Karkarinos, but you could take your drinks in there and enjoy the view. All the staff were fantastic, Angel in reception was amazing. Book and Nok in the restaurant always had a smile. Beautiful location, good food and drinks with excellent service loved it. Only had one bad meal and that was on the Villa side which you get one visit a week to. It was inedible, I ordered sea bass not spicy, I had two mouthfuls and was almost sick, I couldn’t feel my mouth for two hours. I disagree with other reviews regarding the villas, it was soulless over there and lots of people staying there were around our pool and eating in the buffet most nights. I’m now in Nai Harn and it’s like butlins compared to Khao Lak.

The hotel is lovely and situated on the beach. Cannot fault the service at all. The only reason I have given a 3 rating was where the room was situated. We were in room 192. It must be the nosiest room in the hotel!! It is right next to where the laundry etc is and the noise is unbearable. We complained the first day and they said there was nothing they could do about it as the hotel was full. Very poor customer service. We also had to call reception last night to complain about the amount of noise. It was then 10 pm. I would gladly come back to the hotel but not in the room we were given.

Got home yesterday from Apsara to a rainy uk 😢.This is our second visit to the Apsara and once again we had a fantastic time. The hotel is just as quiet and peaceful as we remember.starting at the hotel reception, the staff are always smiling ,so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much for them to make your stay a wonderful one from the moment you check in ,until the moment you go home.Emee is fantastic and Mark also is so helpful.Sorry, can't remember the other names but they are all superb. The dining experience is brilliant, lovely fresh food ,very tasty and plentiful. The chefs are great and the restaurant run by Nathan is so good.the waiters/ waitresses are always friendly ,smiling and always wish you a great day. We remember a few names, Kathin was a star, always talking to us and so friendly as was kik and all the other staff . The restaurant and grounds are always so clean and very well kept. The pool and pools areas are spotless and really well cleaned. The beach is lovely sandy and nice and quiet. The sea is perfect for swimming and surfing. The sunbeds in the hotel are plentiful so there is no fighting for a bed.the rooms are clean and tidy and well maintained. The staff in the Ila bar are great ,and it's a great place to relax. We love this hotel because we've been to lots of all inclusive in different areas,Greece,Spain carribean etc but the reason we love the Apsara is that it's mainly the thai people/ staff its also so peaceful, quiet, relaxing( no loud music)so its a totally relaxing place to forget all your troubles for a few weeks, and you won't get more friendly staff anywhere. Not only are the staff always friendly, they are extremely hard working and the hotel management / owners should be extremely proud. Love it so much we've already booked for jan 10th next year. Paul and Liz Swansea, Wales.

We have stayed at the Apsara several times, always in a pool access room. These have finally been renovated and are now really beautiful: large comfortable king-size bed, pull-out couch, small desk, lots of power outlets, and USB charging options. The bathroom still has a bathtub (who needs it?) with a rain shower. Unchanged: very friendly, helpful staff, delicious breakfast, wonderful unspoiled beach. There was no sign (yet) of the planned construction work in the area. We hope that the quiet and relaxed atmosphere will remain despite everything and will definitely come back.
