Kamala Beach Resort (a sunprime Resort)

Arriving at Sunprime was a bit of a shock after the place we had just left, and my wife posted a knee-jerk review on this account. This hotel may be perfect for many people, but it wasn’t really our style. It’s far too big for our liking and, in peak season, without the Middle East travel issues affecting visitor numbers, it would probably feel overwhelming. We did settle into it after a while, but we definitely prefer smaller hotels. The positives: the staff are brilliant — super friendly, cheerful, and always helpful. The location is excellent for the resort itself, although the resort isn’t really our favourite. Thank goodness it’s not Patong. Bar drinks are also reasonably priced. There are several very large pools with plenty of sunbeds. The pool area nearest the beach seemed busier and was often occupied by guests who could be quite rude. The largest pool near reception, however, was much quieter and more relaxed. They also have a fantastic no-reserving policy for sunbeds. When you check in, you receive a card to exchange for towels. On checkout, you must return the cards or pay a 1,000 baht charge. If you leave towels on sunbeds to reserve them, staff remove the towels and you lose your 1,000 baht deposit. A brilliant system. I was contacted by a hotel staff member regarding the review my wife had left, but I wasn’t aware she had posted one or what she had written, so I was caught off guard. He kindly offered to show us a suite and asked if everything was okay. I said yes and declined, as we only had two nights and one full day remaining. My wife had mentioned that the rooms feel tired and need updating, and she is right. The room and bathroom are a good size, but the finish is fairly basic by today’s standards — especially compared with many hotels in Thailand, where we have stayed quite a lot. What was disappointing was the poor finish in the bathroom and the cleanliness of the shower. The floor had a greasy feel, likely from previous guests’ soap residue, and the bottom of the shower screen was cloudy with soap scum (see pictures). Another odd thing was the bed cover — it was simply too short. If you pulled it up properly, your feet stuck out of the bottom, and I’m only 5'7".

We are staying at the Sunprime kamala hotel now with another couple and us as second time visitors and we can only say this hotel is amazing from the moment you walk in and in making you not want to leave, Johan and his staff are simply amazing and always with a smile on there face and there to help, we' ve been very fortunate to travel the world and stayed in some high end hotels that could learn alot from the Sunprime. For us its like coming home perfect people and perfect location ❤️. 6322

What a joy it was to stay at Sunprime for 8 nights during April 26. The resort if ideally located on the beach which is clean and beautiful and directly at your doorstep. The rooms were large and the beds extremely comfortable. We ate 3 times in the resort for dinner and both the Thai and western foods were delicious and well priced. Behind the resort there is an assortment of shops, 711's and pharmacies along with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. All the staff were super friendly and nothing was too much bother for them to help you with. Four choices of pools including 2 swim up pool bars. Had 3 massages in the resort which were enjoyable and well priced at around $16 AUD for an hour. Pools were sparkly clean and you could get drinks and food brought to you by the pool with the press of a bell. Used the shuttle bus service into Patong twice which was 150THB for a return trip on a fun shuttle truck, driver was lovely. Used the laundry service which was prompt and reasonably priced. Could not fault the resort at all, enough food options for buffe breakfast to keep you coming back each morning and enough variety to keep the whole family happy. Thank you everyone at Sunprime - we will be back to enjoy more of your hospitality in the future.

I honestly didn’t think I’d write another review, having shared my thoughts so many times before. But Sunprime Kamala deserves every bit of praise, over and over again. Every time we return, it somehow feels even more magical than the last. Like I’ve always said – this is the closest to paradise you will ever get. What truly makes this place is the people. To every single member of the team, from the manager to the wonderful cleaning staff and everyone in between: thank you. You welcome us 'frozen Northerners' with such incredible warmth and positive energy that it warms our hearts. The food is exceptional – from the generous breakfast that starts our day perfectly to the high-quality à la carte dinners (which, remarkably, are even better and more affordable than the restaurants on the beach!). We have traveled all over the world, but we have never experienced a level of service as high and genuine as it is here. Sunprime Kamala has a special place in our hearts. We’ve been here many times, and we will keep coming back for many more. Thank you, you wonderful people, for taking such good care of us and for letting us share a piece of your beautiful country. We already miss you and will be back very soon!"

Lovely place, clean, staff is smiling and giving top service. We were unlucky to have a room with a aircondition that really bothered us. They gave us a new, lovely room,- very goog bed! - very satisfied! Breakfast is very good, but we expected better dinner ( a la carte) which was dissappointing serveral times. E.g. seabass, pommes f. ( small portion)- no vegetables... We ate much better , and cheaper dinner in local restaurants. The garden is beautiful, and we like the rule that you cannot grab a sunchair before 1 0am Location is perfect, garden is beautiful!
