Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

Absolutely lovely resort with amazing staff who can't do enough for you. Every request is met with a smile and instant response. Multiple pools and many restaurants mean that even though it is a large resort it never felt crowded. Food is fantastic, especially enjoyed the seafood restaurant and the upmarket La Scala Would return tomorrow! The only downside is the rubbish on the beach. While the resort points out it is a public beach I feel they could do more to tidy it .

There are considerable improvements to the resort since the last time we visited. Variety of eateries and tasty food. Rooms have been revamped as well. Staff are helpful and friendly. A special thank you to Pla and Poppy. They made an effort to help in any way they could and always with a smile. Only negative would be that room service could be improved. Not enough manpower.

A perfect setting the pool access was fantastic would have been a bit nicer to be further away from childrens area and the toilets as you could smell them but overall a great stay. The only other criticism I can make as a solo traveller was that the breakfast staff weren't very attentive

We're wrapping up a 9 night stay, and we're happy we gave it a go - 2 adults, 3 kids aged between 11-14 - although I'm not sure we'll be back. We stayed in the Vhari wing (which is the newest of the 3 wings). The Vhari wing is modern and vibrant, with a sea-creature theme everywhere. Even the hanging light in our room is a jellyfish, female staff wear jellyfish hair ties, there are roving costume-clad staff at breakfast ... The wing is aimed at little kids (under 10), and its chaotic, like a giant daycare on sugar. It's not cheap to stay here, so I'd like to say I enjoyed it more, but it was too cartoon-ish for our kids. And we got really tired of little kids running into us as we tried to carefully navigate prams, dirty nappies and toddlers to get to the slides. Families snagged all loungers early, and we never found a free lounger in our 9 days. The Thani wing, which is on the beach-side of the resort, was more teen-appropriate and we gravitated to that area. Theres no slides like the Vhari wing, but it's calmer, with cleaner swimming pools, loads of free loungers, and its right next to beautiful Kata Noi beach. Don't be fooled by anyone who says its 2-3 min walk anywhere in this resort. The resort is so massive, it takes 10 mins to walk anywhere in the resort if you want to leave your wing. If you go to one of the 3 lobbies, you can ask for a golf cart ride back to your lobby. There are a few good dining options if you want to leave the resort. There is a road that runs through the centre of the resort, separating the wings (its not busy - its a dead-end), and on the road there is a 7-11, helpful phamacy, a couple of small souvenir shops, and a few restaurants all begging for business. I can highly recommend Ta Restaurant down a lane near 7-11, Siam Smile, and Sabai Corner which is a 10 min taxi up the hill overlooking the bay. All have much better prices than the resort, with delicious food, and friendly service. If we came back, we'd avoid the Vhari wing - our kids have outgrown that phase.
