La Vela Khao Lak

This was our first time in Thailand and it didn’t disappoint! Before we arrived I had emailed the hotel to inform them that we were travelling for our anniversary to see if there was anything they could do to elevate our trip. We walked in to our room after a long day of travelling to our bed been decorated, a complimentary bottle of Prosecco & a slice of cake which was delicious! Everything about the hotel was great, the rooms are spacious and clean, breakfast was lovely and there was plenty to choose from (can get busy towards the back end of breakfast). Hotel is in a good location, close to local restaurants (highly recommend’Give me five’), shops etc, walking distance to the night market too. We were here for 14 nights but on our second week I became ill and had to go to a clinic. Two lovely ladies on the front desk arranged our taxi to the clinic and when we came back they checked up on me straight away & went to the effort of having the kitchen make me some toast with butter which was complimentary! Jayne & Pear (on the front desk) have been so attentive to me and have made me feel like no ask is too big, they have played a huge part in our holiday and we are so grateful to them. We will definitely be returning to La Vela in the future!

My first time in Thailand and will definitely come back. Hotel is modern and very clean, rooms are large and well appointed. I would definitely choose a swim up room or make sure that you book a sea view, I didn’t and did not have a very impressive view. Breakfast is good with lots of choice and freshly cooked food, it can get busy. I booked half board with breakfast and either lunch or dinner, the quality of the food was good but limited choice. I also had 90 minutes of “free flow” drinks per evening, choice was very limited. Staff are very polite and very attentive but bar service can be slow. The fire show is amazing and worth watching. The spa is great with excellent service, take care to ensure they understand which massage you would like when booking. Gym is fairly small but well equipped and well run. Overall a very relaxing holiday in a pleasant and well run hotel.

Never been to thailand before so not sure what to expect. Everything about the hotel was wonderful, the room and bed were comfy and massive.It was lovely out on balcony overlooking pool and beach. All the staff everywhere were friendly and helpful. Only negative is all thunder, lightning and torrential rain of thd last 4 days. We are now so laid back and relaxed will definitley return.

The location is right on the beachfront, it has a relaxed atmosphere and amazing pool access rooms. The steps into the pool are a plus for older or mobility restricted people, but the hand rail needs to go all the way up the steps as it is awkward to take that first step in. Fantastic value as we went in low season and the rooms are very clean. They even had a dehumidifier in there which keeps the air inside a little drier. It can be a little noisy in and around the pool as lots of families, but otherwise, there is not a lot of noise to be heard walking around other parts of the resort. Breakfast had a huge variety of foods and even a coffee station to make your preferred brew. The service was pretty good and particularly Aod Sport (I think that's his name) made sure our stay was very enjoyable. The beach club has the extensive seafood buffet on certain nights, and for non seafood lovers (like me), they also have various steaks and other dishes which are cooked to your liking, so you will certainly not go hungry. The atmosphere at the beach club is pretty good too, as they do an amazing fire show, plus a bar tender bottle twirling demonstration. Booking is essential for this buffet as it gets packed!!!

This is a very nice resort directly on the beach. A bit of a hike to the main road but there are some shops not far from the entrance. We had a pool access room that was quite spacious with a large bathroom and easy access to the pool with steps and a hand rail. As we were in low season the rate was quite good representing excellent value for a resort of this quality. The rooms and resort were very clean with no issues at all. The Staff were all excellent with a special thank you to Aod for looking after us. They have a fantastic buffet and fire show at their beach restaurant which is the best fire show I've seen in Thailand so far. Breakfast was good with barista made coffee an added bonus.
