Maikhao Palm Beach Resort

When we first arrived the hotel looked lovely. Was very Thai themed. We jump on a golf cart and we're taken to our room which concerned me a little as the room was very far away from the entrance and the restaurant area. Roughly a 5 minute walk. The grounds looked nice on first view and the pools looked nice. That was about the best part of it. TV was in russian with no English channels Day 2 we asked for some water from the cleaner and she told us no because we had a limit of 4 bottles and when she comes to our room she will check first. Also asked for an extra pillow and got told no you only get one. She finally got the room about 2 hours later to confirm we had in fact used our daily allowance to top back up. Day 3 we finally used the pools only to find they were dirty with cigarette butts floating in the kids pool and broken tiles. No music around the pools either. Leaves and dirt in the main pools and rubbish on the floors. Went to shower afterwards and we had no hot water. Called to reception and said they would send someone up. Nobody came but the water was hot in the evening. Day 4 we had no water at all for around 3 hours. Called to reception again got told someone would come up. An hour later I walked down to speak to the receptionist who asked me to wait in my room for someone to come. I'm on holiday and don't want to wait for your poor service. We asked for the reception to arrange a taxi to the airport and they wanted 900 baht for a 15 minute trip which was expensive. We arranged elsewhere for 500 baht. On check out after spending 5 minutes shouting for a member of staff who were sleeping, they made us wait before we left so they could check our room first. I've never been to a hotel where I get treated like that. Made me feel like a criminal or something Location is far from things and the hotel is very expensive for food and drinks. Taxis around the area are also very expensive. Not the hotels fault but maybe they should offer a free shuttle into the town? Some staff were nice but majority were not helpful or would smile. We have stayed in 2 & 3 star hotels and got better service. Expensive. Poor service especially for a 4 star hotel. Price per night was cheap but everything else was expensive. Like 3x the price outside the hotel

Cranky man running Russian-friendly 2-start hotel First time staying at the hotel. Unlikely to repeat. Terrible food and poor staffing offset by large rooms. Great unfriendly beach across the street. Positives * large format rooms with large beds * Large pool area (accessible from ground floor rooms) * Stunning micro-areas (offset by dilapidated buildings elsewhere) * Beach across the street Negatives * lazy staff * Constant nickle & diming * Cranky hotel manager * Poor check-in process * Terrible breakfast * Bell boy sits behind the hotel so he doesn’t need to help you with luggage * Not that it should matter, but lots of Russian tourists * Right next to dilapidated unoccupied apartment building which hasn’t been torn down or fixed * No convenient egress to street except long walk or shuttle ride back to main lobby * Beach across the street has strong currents and waves * Lack of nearby (walking distance) convenience stores * Certainly not a 4-star category hotel

Stayed at this hotel twice and had a pleasant experience overall. The rooms were impressively spacious, offering plenty of room to relax and unwind after a long day. Breakfast was decent—nothing too fancy, but it had enough variety to start the day off right. What really stood out, though, was the team. Every staff member I encountered was warm, welcoming.

Amazing stay at Mai Khao Palm Beach Resort! The rooms were clean and spacious, the pool area was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Perfect location just a short walk from the beach. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Phuket!

We arrived late evening and were met really friendly front of house staff and we were quickly shown to our room on the 3rd floor. The room was large and spacious and very clean. We had booked a room with a sea view and yes we could see the sea once we looked past all the trees in front of it. To wake up and hear the sea was great. Breakfast was OK yes it was repetitive and nothing to get excited about didn’t like that the fried eggs were not properly cooked and put on an unheated plate. Most of the chefs on the egg station would cook us a fresh one but one chap “Mr Grump” was not at all helpful. Apart from him, all the staff were friendly and helpful and the lady on the tour desk was lovely. We knew the hotel was a little remote but it was even more so when we looked around. We used Bolt as our means of transport and were quite reasonably priced. We found a good Laundry, walk out of the hotel and turn left, take the next left and walk to the top of the road and turn left and a little way down on the right is the 126 laundry.
