We had high hopes for this location that was booked by a tour operator, but things did not turn out well. Check-in is at 3PM. We arrived about 3:10 and had to wait until 4:30 to get our room. Despite being pre-paid, we were not able to get the wrist bands so that we could use the facilities. When we got to our room there was no bottled water, the TV didn’t work, the refrigerator didn’t work, one light and two outlets didn’t work. Couldn’t call front desk as phone also didn’t work. They do have a QR code on a dresser to file requests. We requested functional TV and refrigerator but nothing was attended to before we checked out the next morning. The pool closed at 6PM and they said they would not have any towels until the next day, so we had to walk through the lobby and elevator dripping. The pool itself and the lounges were plentiful and nice. Dinner was an experience in persistence. It is buffet style and there are lines for everything, plates, salad, pizza, pasta etc…. Again, there is no water with meals, you must purchase it as an extra charge. If you have children, they were having a great time. If you are looking to relax, this is not the place.

We stayed at El Mouradi Palace for one week and had a very mixed experience. There were some positives, but also several issues that significantly affected our stay. Rooms: Before arriving, we were quite sceptical after looking at the photographs online and reading some of the previous reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed on the first floor and found our room to be modern, comfortable and of a good standard. This was definitely one of the positives of the hotel. Food: Unfortunately, the food was only average in our opinion. The selection did not feel particularly suited to British guests and the queues at meal times were extremely long and, at times, chaotic. Guests should also be aware that plates and cutlery were not always properly clean. We regularly came across items that needed to be checked or replaced before use, which was disappointing. Grounds & Beach: The hotel grounds are spacious, attractive and generally well maintained. The beach is excellent and was probably one of the strongest aspects of the holiday. However, the service at the beach bar was disappointing. On several occasions, the barman appeared uninterested in serving guests who did not tip. It gave the impression that those who tipped received considerably more attention and service than those who didn’t. Staff & Service: Overall, our experience with the staff was mixed. Some of the bar staff came across as quite miserable and, unfortunately, the level of service sometimes appeared to depend on whether you were tipping. There were also a few occasions where certain barmen appeared more interested in getting female guests’ Instagram accounts than actually serving drinks. This was unprofessional and particularly noticeable. That said, Yousef at the bar was fantastic and deserves particular recognition. He was friendly, attentive and provided excellent service throughout our stay. We also had one waiter who was particularly good. However, the waiting staff generally appeared to be rushed off their feet due to the sheer number of guests, so it was clear that the hotel was extremely busy. Entertainment: This was, without question, the most disappointing aspect of our stay and something that seriously needs to be addressed by hotel management. The behaviour of several members of the male entertainment team was, in our opinion, highly inappropriate and completely unprofessional. Rather than focusing on providing entertainment for the hotel as a whole, they appeared to spend a significant amount of their time approaching, flirting with and pursuing female guests. What made this particularly concerning was the repetitive and persistent nature of the behaviour. This was not something we noticed once or twice. It became a pattern throughout the entire week. Once one female guest had left or moved elsewhere, the same entertainers would seemingly move straight on to another woman. It became so predictable that it genuinely felt as though they were simply waiting for the next female guest to become their focus. One night they would be heavily involved with one group of girls, and the following night they would appear to have moved on to someone else. When female guests checked out, they seemed to immediately move on to another group of women the following night. The behaviour was so persistent that at times it felt less like a professional hotel entertainment team and more like “Tunisian Love Island.” We also personally witnessed members of the entertainment team being physically intimate with guests in the club on several occasions. This was not a one-off incident. We saw two members of the entertainment team making out with guests, and the behaviour was repeated on different occasions. Regardless of what guests choose to do themselves, seeing hotel employees making out with guests in front of other hotel guests is, in our opinion, completely inappropriate and disgusting behaviour from members of hotel staff. There should be a clear professional boundary between employees and guests, particularly when staff are representing the hotel. The fact that the behaviour appeared to continue repeatedly, with the entertainers moving on to different female guests on subsequent nights, made it even more uncomfortable to witness. It gave the impression that pursuing female guests had become a normal part of their behaviour rather than simply social interaction. The entertainment team should be there to create an enjoyable atmosphere for all guests, not spend the week appearing to pursue single women while other guests receive considerably less interaction. Having stayed at several hotels with entertainment teams, this was by far the most inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour we have experienced. The constant flirting, pursuing of female guests and lack of professional boundaries significantly damaged our overall impression of the hotel. Late Checkout / Reception: Another issue occurred on the final day of our stay. The night before we were due to fly home, we spoke to reception regarding a late checkout. We were told that this could be arranged for an additional charge, which we were happy to pay. I also spoke directly with the manager that evening and understood that the late checkout had been agreed. However, on the morning of checkout, we were suddenly told that this was no longer possible because the hotel was fully booked. This was extremely frustrating, particularly as we had already discussed and agreed the arrangement with reception the previous evening and I had personally spoken with the manager. If the hotel was genuinely unable to accommodate the late checkout due to occupancy, that should have been communicated to us the night before rather than agreeing to it and then changing the decision on the morning itself. After an already mixed experience, this was a particularly disappointing way to finish the holiday. Overall: The hotel has some genuinely strong positives: modern rooms, beautiful grounds and a fantastic beach. However, the average food, extremely long queues, cleanliness issues with crockery and cutlery, inconsistent service, issues with the late checkout and particularly the behaviour of some members of the entertainment team prevented us from giving the hotel a higher rating. For us, the entertainment team was easily the biggest issue of the holiday and the main reason we would hesitate to return. Overall rating: 5/10.
