Iberostar Selection Diar El Andalous

My friend and I stayed at Iberostar Diar El Andalous for six days at the start of July, and the animation team were honestly the highlight of our stay. Fares and his colleagues Mimi, Tito, Sam, Aymen, Alex, Pika and SouSou worked incredibly hard to create such a fun and welcoming atmosphere. They were friendly, entertaining, and made the hotel feel alive throughout the day and evening. The team were amazing at connecting with guests of all ages. The activities around the pool and the evening shows were full of energy, and it was clear how much effort they put into making sure everyone had a good time. They are a real asset to the hotel. A special mention also goes to Marwan from reception, who was very kind and helpful, and Hamdi in the restaurant, who was the best server we had during our stay. Abdulaziz in the restaurant was also lovely. Overall, we had a lovely holiday, and the staff members who stood out really helped make it special. One small tip for future guests: keep an eye out for jellyfish when swimming in the sea! 🪼

We stayed at this hotel last June, and in our opinion it does not deserve its five-star rating. Almost all of the staff seemed to expect tips before providing proper service. First, the room was not as clean as it should have been. Housekeeping did not clean the toilet properly, did not refill the shampoo bottles, and did not clean the floors well. It felt more like staying in a two-star hotel. The restaurant offered a good variety of food, but the quality of the meat and fish was disappointing. The restaurant staff also expected tips. If you didn't tip them, they would simply ignore you. Another issue was with the reception desk. One of the receptionists exchanged money for us without giving us a receipt. The amount we received was short, and when we asked about it, he told us that they didn't have any small change. There was also no air conditioning in either the restaurant or the reception area, which made them very uncomfortable during the summer. On the positive side, the hotel was quiet and felt very safe. The beach was beautiful, and the swimming pool was also excellent. Overall, we do not think this hotel deserves its five-star rating, and we don't believe we will return.

We chose Iberostar Selection Diar El Andalous because of the many positive online reviews and its positioning as a five-star hotel. After our stay, however, we have to say that the impression presented online did not match the actual experience we had on site. The disappointment started upon arrival. Although we had booked a room with a balcony, this was not initially provided to us. Instead, there were several room changes after our arrival before we were finally given the room category we had booked. Especially at the beginning of our honeymoon, this involved unnecessary inconvenience, repeated packing and unpacking of luggage, and repeated discussions at reception. We were also not satisfied with the food overall. The selection repeated itself almost daily throughout our stay, so there was very little real variety. In addition, some dishes at the live cooking stations were repeatedly not cooked thoroughly enough. During our stay, we also experienced health issues, which further reduced our confidence in the food. On top of that, dishes that ran out were often not replenished, meaning that certain items were no longer available later in the meal service. The service also did not meet the standard we would have expected from a hotel of this category. In the restaurant, tables were often not fully set, so we sometimes had to organize cutlery ourselves or wait for it to be brought. After the initial drinks order, there was often no further follow-up during the meal. Communication problems made things even more difficult. Several staff members we dealt with spoke neither German nor sufficient English, but only French, which we do not speak. As a result, even simple requests became unnecessarily complicated. The overall organization also seemed weak in several situations. For example, when we asked for a toothpick, no one in the restaurant could help us, so we had to leave the restaurant and ask at the bar instead. Small things like this may seem minor on their own, but together they contributed to an overall disappointing impression. What was especially frustrating was that we raised these issues early during the stay in a personal conversation with the Customer Relations Manager, yet we did not notice any clear or lasting improvements afterward. Another unpleasant incident involved our privacy. During our stay, a staff member entered our room even though it was obvious that someone was inside. I was in the room charging my phone and watching a video with the sound on. Despite that, the staff member continued walking into the room until she was standing in front of my bed. Only then did she apologize and leave. After this incident, we made sure to lock the room from the inside whenever we were in it. At the end of the stay, there were also issues at checkout. We were asked to pay additional charges that we could not understand, and despite asking for clarification, no transparent or verifiable documentation was provided to us. Overall, we did not feel that this hotel lived up to the standard suggested by its online reviews and five-star positioning. Any one of these issues on its own might perhaps have been manageable, but taken together, the number of problems significantly affected our stay. What was particularly disappointing for us was that the first days of our honeymoon were shaped by organizational problems and repeated complaints. Based on our personal experience, we would therefore not recommend this hotel.

I recently stayed at Iberostar Diar Andalous in Tunisia, and I can honestly say it was one of the best holiday experiences I’ve had. The food was absolutely outstanding. A huge compliment to the chef, who deserves 10/10! We tried a few restaurants outside the hotel during our stay, but none of them came close to the quality, variety, and flavour of the food at the hotel. The service throughout the hotel was exceptional. Every member of staff was friendly, professional, and genuinely cared about making our stay special. A special thank you to Anis, who was incredibly helpful with anything we needed around the hotel. Saif provided fantastic service and made the shisha experience enjoyable every time. I’d also like to thank Sabrine, who looked after our room beautifully. It was always spotless, secure, and cleaned to a very high standard. What really made this hotel stand out was the people. The staff made us feel like family from the moment we arrived until the day we left. They went above and beyond to make sure every guest was happy and well looked after. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Iberostar Diar Andalous to anyone visiting Tunisia. Thank you to the entire team for making our holiday so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

We arrived around lunchtime, and were offered the chance to upgrade to the Star Prestige lounge. The room was ready immediately and we were very impressed. Limited sea view, but beautiful. Lots of storage space, bed comfortable, we found the pillows to be too hard, and these were changed upon request. There is a star prestige sun lounge upstairs, with plenty of sun loungers and parasols, a waiter, lots of drinks etc.. also snacks and cava on ice. There is a jacuzzi as well, and an inside area to chill, with a massage chair! That was a lovely touch. The other star prestige area is to the right at the back of the hotel, it never got overly crowded, and again, snacks and drinks from our fabulous waiter Kamel. Two jacuzzis in this one. There are two main pools, the one to the left is more lively, entertainment is held here, and the team are great, never push you to join in and all work extremely hard. A lot of the evening entertainment starts out on the terrace and then moves over to the amphitheater. There didn’t seem to be a lot of children there, and some nights the music they played for the kids seemed to go on a bit, I think after 8.30pm you don’t really want to listen to kids songs. The waiters in this area work so hard, and are so friendly always remembering your drink and keeping you supplied with popcorn, nuts and olives. In fact, all the staff at the hotel go above and beyond, from reception, restaurants, housekeeping, gardeners, lifeguards. Without exception, everyone greeted us with a smile and said good day, how are you? Sadly there is a negative… the food. We have stayed at Iberostar Kantaoui bay previously and the food seemed to be a higher standard. I think I only enjoyed around 4 evening meals, hubby barely ate, and quite a few people we spoke to were going out at night to find something different to eat. Nearly every single vegetable had rosemary on, great if you like it, not so much if you don’t. The scrambled eggs dish would get down to the last spoonful before he would start preparing the next lot. The spaghetti didn’t do well being prepared and left in the serving dishes, it went ‘craggy’. Lots of fruit, and plenty of desserts, and salad options. I think a stir fry cooking station would go down well. This is a beautiful hotel and I’m glad we visited it, the positives far outweighed the negatives.
