Mediterranee Thalasso Golf

I had the most wonderful week at the Mediterranae Thalasso. I stayed as a solo traveller and there’s always the risk of feeling uncomfortable but that didn’t happen - all the staff were so welcoming and friendly and made it a really special week. My room was basic but big and clean and the bed was comfortable. The first morning I woke to discover the bathroom tap had leaked - within an hour of reporting it, a whole new tap has been fitted! Lots of special touches, like flowers in my room and petals on the table at dinner. I spent most days by the beautiful seawater pool, under the palm trees, and also on the beach where there are plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Plenty of on-site entertainment if that’s what you’re after, though I was happy watching a film in my room of an evening. Food was always hot and tasty, and there were enough options to stop it becoming too repetitive, though a wider range of salads and desserts would be welcome. The drinks included in the AI package were adequate, though i did enjoy a couple of “extra” cocktails, which were very good for 25 dinar. There is also a hotel shop which is competitively priced - almost worth doing your souvenir shopping there rather than elsewhere. If i had to criticise anything, it would be the free WiFi, which was a bit patchy - I bought a Hubby eSIM for the weekend which gave me unlimited data for about £25. Special thanks to Merha (housemaid), Anada and Besim (reception), Afif (for the pancakes) , the waiter who always found me a table and brought me wine, and the pool bar guy for keeping me supplied with Hammamet Dreams! (A cocktail, not anything more…!) Honestly, I had the best week and hope to come back again, perhaps with family.

Just returned after a 2 week stay with some great highs and some lows and I will be very honest with this review as I am with any hotel stay. On arrival we were greeted by two lovely young men at reception as we didn't arrive at our normal time due to flight issues with air traffic control. We were shown to our rooms which were of poor standard and very updated. However we did get put into a different room the next morning which was much better. However there are newly renovated rooms I think numbers 2107 onwards, I had a sneak peek passing when the cleaner was in cleaning the room and they really do look amazing. We were rooms 3101 and 3105. Special thanks to Amel Nasri house keeping general manager who sorted the move to new rooms with no issues at all. The hotel itself is spotless and the staff are constantly cleaning day and night, the outside gardens and grounds are fantastic and a lot of work goes into making them pretty. Tipping a little definitely goes a long way. From the bar tenders to the waiting staff at food times, they treated us like royalty everyday after tipping what seemed a little money to us but meant so much to them. The food was plentiful but some times not overly warm but we always managed to leave with a full stomach. The deserts, well what I can I say but delicious. The wine and beer was always flowing and our glasses didn't remain empty for long. The WiFi is very poor and does not reach the bedrooms but we made do. The animation team worked hard but on a two week stay the night time entertainment was repeated the second week and I found that they needed to perhaps use a little more English now and again as during a Tombola night we hadn't a clue about what numbers were being called out. Everyone was so so friendly and I feel we were made to feel very very welcome. Special mention to Ali Jellibi, general manager we think. He is a really lovely gentleman and always made sure we were ok and if we needed anything. Wael the waiting staff in the dinning hall always deserves a mention for his hard work and attention to detail, leaving petals and wine on our table every evening before we even went upstairs to eat. The beach is a very very short walk from the main pull and it was good to see free sunbeds. In my honest opinion I think if the rooms were all renovated and a few wee tweaks made here and there this hotel would definitely be worthy of a higher star award. We really enjoyed our time at this hotel and were sad to leave yesterday.

We had a really enjoyable stay overall, with plenty of things that made the holiday great, although there were also a few areas that could be improved. Room & cleanliness The room and beds were comfortable and clean. There was a cleaning lady outside our rooms each day who was very approachable and always checked in to see whether anything needed changing or whether we needed anything. She was lovely and made us feel well looked after. Our balcony also had a beautiful view of blue skies, palm trees and the beach. The 12pm checkout time was another bonus, as it made the final morning much more relaxed. Food & drinks There was a great variety of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast had boiled and fried eggs, omelettes, cereals, pastries, pancakes and more, while lunch and dinner included salads, curries, grilled meat and fish, pizza, pasta, desserts and fruit. Everything we tried was delicious, and I particularly loved the Tunisian corner. My only suggestion would be to have more English labels for the dishes, as it wasn't always clear what we were trying. The snack selection was considerably more limited, however, and could definitely have had more variety. Unfortunately, the cocktails included in the all-inclusive package were also extremely limited. Almost all of the included cocktails seemed to contain grenadine, which wasn't particularly enjoyable for us. The wine was great, though, and the one cocktail we really enjoyed was the Whiskey Sour, which had a good balance of sweet and sour and was a nice addition to the holiday. Beach & pools We were genuinely spoilt for choice when it came to the water. The beach was literally two minutes from our room, and both the saltwater and chlorine pools were massive, with different depths, plenty of sunbeds and lifeguards always on duty. Activities & entertainment There was always something happening, whether it was water aerobics, dance classes or evening entertainment such as fire shows and Arabic nights. There was plenty to keep you occupied if you wanted to get involved. My only criticism is that at times I felt pressured to participate in activities when I would have preferred to simply relax. Staff Most of our interactions with staff were positive, but there were a few occasions where the service made us feel less welcome than we would have liked. In particular, Kais at the bar would roll his eyes when we approached, despite us being polite and not behaving rowdily or disrespectfully. This did affect our experience and made us feel uncomfortable using the bar at times. On the other hand, Hamza was exceptionally kind and friendly. He was lovely with us and seemed genuinely warm and welcoming towards everyone he interacted with, so we really appreciated his service. Other improvements It would have been great to have the option to rent pool or beach towels. We didn't have enough space in our luggage to bring our own, and buying one locally wasn't particularly practical when we then had to carry it home. The Wi-Fi was also incredibly unreliable. It didn't work at all for us in the rooms and was very much on and off in other areas. It tended to work better around the pool, but we would really have appreciated more reliable Wi-Fi, particularly as we didn't have any mobile data either.

Room was abysmal had to change which they did with no fuss. I had booked a room with a fridge as I had medication that had to be kept cold. There was no mini fridge in my room and then I complained about it, I was told it would be a further 10 dinar a day. Another 140 dinar on what i already paid. Rubbish 1st day, I can't wait to speak to the rep tomorrow as never in 15 years have I has this trouble and will certainly think about using TUI next year

this hotel is absolutely amazing. this is the second time i have been and i loved every second of it. i want to thank the animation team, especially mouna, sam, saif (c4), nidhal and bouba. they always put in effort into everything they did and spent the time to talk to us. the food is amazing and is always fresh. our cleaner was so sweet and always said hello to us. the bar staff are so happy and made our holiday amazing great time. a special mention to zied, samer and maram for all their help. i also want to thank the lifeguards for being so friendly, koussay, ayoub and franko. i would recommend this hotel to anyone.
