To be straightforward, this resort falls far short of true 5-star standards. If you plan to stay here, you must adapt to the local tipping culture (baksheesh)—without placing cash in the right hands, you quickly become an invisible bystander to the staff. The Positives (+) Room & Housekeeping: The room was very spacious, and daily housekeeping (vacuuming and mopping) was consistently well done. Beach & Main Pool: Excellent location right by the beach with great sunbathing weather. The main pool is impressive and deep (exceeding 2m in areas), though officially no swimming is allowed—a rule completely ignored by everyone. Á la Carte Restaurant: The highlight of the stay. The medium-cooked steak was delicious, the soup was tasty, and the cherry tomatoes were outstanding (9/10). Plus, there is no strict limit on the number of courses you can order. (Just note it is located right next to the game zone, so air hockey noise can instantly ruin the atmosphere). Local Beer: The local Celtia beer is surprisingly good. The Negatives (−) Hygiene & Stomach Issues: Packing Imodium is mandatory. Hygiene standards are shockingly low—waiters regularly grab cutlery by the eating end rather than the handles, glasses are unpolished/dirty, and table surfaces inside and outside are perpetually sticky. Service & Nightlife: Tipping is essential; otherwise, you get completely ignored. The main night bar is severely understaffed (just 1 waiter + 1 bartender), leading to extreme wait times. There is also a constant, paranoid routine of signing zero-balance receipts to verify paid vs. free alcohol. Food & Drink Quality: The buffet quality fluctuates wildly depending on the chef on duty. Standard All-Inclusive coffee and tea are terrible (loose green tea is stored in open bowls exposed to air). Drinks have a double standard—the standard AI Piña Colada is made from a nasty powder compared to a non-listed frozen version with real pineapple. The "snack bar" is just a small fridge with leftover baguettes and a few pieces of fruit. Neglected Sports Facilities: The padel court is almost permanently booked for local tournaments, making it nearly impossible for hotel guests to play. The clay tennis court is covered in pebbles that make ball bounces unpredictable, and the rackets are in bad shape. Ping-pong and darts are equally dilapidated (the dartboard stand has a broken cover). The indoor pool was closed without any reason given. Arcade machines in the game area are third-party owned, meaning no refunds if they swallow your coins. Maintenance & Noise: The interior is aging, with quick-fix glue repairs and furniture in public areas sticky with sweat and sunscreen. Bathrooms have zero soundproofing—you can clearly hear bathroom business from neighboring rooms and the hallway. Sunbeds suffer from heavy towel-hoarding. Room Condition, AC & Smelly Carpets: The promised sea view was very limited and obstructed by palms and side angles. Additionally, the air conditioning in the room was weak/smelly, and the room carpets had a persistent, unpleasant odor. Local Scammers Outside: Beware of street scammers around Hammamet disguising themselves as "cooks" or kitchen staff from your hotel to gain your trust and aggressively lure you into overpriced shops or markets. Poor Location & Surrounding Area: The immediate area surrounding the hotel is awful—there is trash everywhere, broken rubble, and abandoned ruins, with hotels awkwardly sandwiched right in the middle of all the debris. Summary If you expect a pristine, high-end 5-star experience, this will be a disappointment. It is manageable if you bring stomach meds, keep your expectations low, and distribute tips daily All four of us agreed that we will not be returning.

From the moment we arrived, we felt relaxed. Oceana is the kind of hotel where you naturally slow down, switch off from everyday life and simply enjoy being together. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, with spacious and comfortable rooms, beautiful views, good food and, above all, wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly, attentive and genuinely willing to go the extra mile. It’s the little things that make you feel truly looked after, without ever feeling intrusive. We also loved the room service. Everything was beautifully prepared, arrived promptly and was served with the same care and attention you experience throughout the hotel. Having a quiet meal or a drink in the comfort of our room was such a lovely treat. The spa was another highlight for us. It has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere and is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy a treatment and simply take some time for yourselves. And then there are all those little moments that make a stay special a quiet morning on the balcony, a relaxed lunch by the pool or beach, enjoying a drink together, or watching the day slowly come to an end. What we appreciated most is that nothing feels rushed. There is no pressure to constantly be doing something. So if you are searching for a lot of entertainment this is not your place. You can spend the day by the pool, take a walk along the beach, enjoy the spa, have a lovely meal or simply relax together. Oceana is a wonderful place to escape the everyday, recharge and enjoy quality time together.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel since it first opened in 1996, and I have returned every single year since. By now, it truly feels like my home away from home — and I sincerely hope it will continue to be so for many, many years to come. ❤️ What makes this hotel so special is the wonderful staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly, welcoming and always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. You are never made to feel like just another guest; there is a genuine warmth that makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The rooms are spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Where do you still find hotel rooms nowadays where you don't feel cramped, but actually have enough space to sit comfortably, store your suitcases and simply relax? The bathrooms are wonderful too, with a separate shower, a large sink and a separate toilet area. Everything is well thought out and comfortable. And then there are the balconies! They are fantastic, and whichever side of the hotel you are staying on, you can enjoy beautiful views. It is such a lovely place to sit with a drink and simply enjoy the surroundings. The restaurant is another highlight. There is plenty of choice to suit everyone's taste, with a great selection of prepared dishes that are kept warm and regularly replenished, as well as food freshly cooked to order meats, fish, pasta and much more. There is also a wonderful selection of drinks. And even if the drink you fancy isn't on the menu, the staff will happily create something especially for you, exactly to your taste. That personal touch says so much about the service here. The housekeeping team is absolutely amazing, everything is always spotless and taken care of down to the smallest detail. A big thank you to the entire team! One of the things I especially appreciate is that there is no need to wake up at an absurd hour and reserve a sunbed by putting your towel down at the pool. The pool staff are always helpful and will do their very best to find a spot for you. It makes such a difference and allows you to actually relax and enjoy your holiday. The food at the pool restaurant, O'Sea Side, as well as at the beach, is delicious. There is a wonderful variety on offer, from fresh salads to complete meals and everything in between. You certainly won't go hungry here! And a very special thank you to Makrem and Adel at the bar. You always make us feel so welcome, remember us, and add that extra personal touch that makes coming back year after year so special. And a very special thank you to Amira, the General Director, who has always looked after us so wonderfully over the years. Her personal care and kindness have meant so much to us. After all these years, Oceana truly feels like our home away from home. It is more than just a hotel to us, it is a place filled with wonderful memories, familiar faces and that lovely feeling of coming home.

Some things at this hotel are great. Bar staff and restaurant staff are excellent, they can't do enough for you. Main bar and lounge area are also very nice and the bedrooms were spacious but maybe a little dated. We had excellent WiFi in the room on day 1 but unfortunately it didn't work on day 2. After numerous trips to reception to try and get it fixed it finally got repaired 3 days later. Not great when you have a teenager. The real downside for us was the lack of evening entertainment. In the 7 nights we were there we had a saxophonist for an hour 1 night and a singer/ bellydancer on our final night. A bit boring for us. Also, the beach and sea were not great. Basically just seaweed and jellyfish. All in all, if you want a nice, very quiet, relaxing holiday. This is the place for you

Here are the pros and cons of this so called 5 star hotel . Some staff pleasant and helpful . Gardens well kept Sadly these are the only pros . The cons are as follows . The hotel is run down rooms are tired and dated . Stained furniture . Damp patches throughout hotel Shower mouldy Carpets worn out . Very poor A/C throughout hotel Food of a cheap poor quality liver , kidney , tripe and sausage served several times per week . Cooking of the grill same tongs used for raw , meat and fish and cooked items . Raw meat tipped over cooked meat and fish . Under cooked chicken from grill . Eggs not fully cooked on grill . À la carte restaurant asked how you want steak cooked came out raw and still cold in centre . Limited supply of certain foods first come first served then no more . Local people use the hotel pool not hotel guests everyday from around 3.30pm Influx of local people at the weekend this hotel cannot cope not enough sun loungers Towels . The beach is an environmental disaster looks like it was once a dumping ground. All along the beach there is rubbish certainly not as described.It is a health hazard . This is not a 5 star hotel. Please be warned go elsewhere this is a waste of your money as we have learned to late .
