Disappointing experience – definitely not a 4-star hotel Unfortunately, my experience at the Vincci Helya Beach was quite disappointing, especially when it comes to hygiene, organisation and the overall quality of the dining experience. The dining room is extremely chaotic. When guests leave their tables, it often takes a very long time for the tables to be cleaned and made available again. On several occasions, we had to call a member of staff ourselves just to have the table cleared, and even then, cutlery was often not provided. We constantly had to ask for cutlery, glasses and napkins. There are also very long queues, both for the food and at the bar, particularly at weekends. Drinks are served by a member of staff at the bar, and the only soft drink options available are Coca-Cola or something similar to Sprite. The bottles are kept on the counter rather than properly chilled in a refrigerator. There are two water stations in the dining room. There is also a machine offering still fruit drinks such as strawberry, pineapple, tutti-frutti and orange, but unfortunately it is only switched on during breakfast. Hygiene is another major concern. Several plates were not properly washed and still had visible food stains on them. The dining chairs are upholstered in fabric and are frequently covered in food stains and other marks. Overall, the dining area feels very poorly organised and lacks the level of cleanliness and attention to detail I would expect from a four-star hotel. The situation is made even more unpleasant by the large number of children running around the dining room, shouting and frequently pushing ahead of others in the queues. Of course, children are not the hotel's responsibility in themselves, but better organisation and supervision of the dining area could make the experience much more comfortable for everyone. The fruit is also almost always served warm. It was very rare to find a piece of fruit that was properly fresh and chilled. Personally, I was also not impressed with the food. Despite the expectation of an international selection, there was very little variety that would suit international tastes. The food is predominantly traditional Tunisian cuisine, often with strong seasoning and flavours that may be difficult for guests who are not accustomed to them. Simple options such as plain white rice or French fries are rarely available. In my opinion, this hotel does not currently meet the standard I would expect from a four-star property. There is still considerable room for improvement, particularly regarding hygiene, organisation, service and food variety. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not choose to stay here again.
