Selectum Colours Bodrum

We stayed at Selectum Colours Bodrum at the start of July and our overall rating would be 3.5 stars, not the claimed 5 stars. The positives: - The entertainment was good, particularly the traditional dancing and the acrobats. The singers/bands were also good but very few songs were in English, despite that being the original language for the songs and the common language among guests. This prevented much of a party atmosphere on most evenings. However, the beach party was really fun and they put in a lot of effort. - The room was cleaned well each day and the fridge kept stocked. - The sushi counter was fantastic, but it's only open at the weekend. There should really be a sign (outside of the guest relations desk) to state opening times. - The pool was clean and there were plenty of beds. - Firat provided excellent service in the dining room. He stood out to us as someone who is very attentive and friendly, and we would choose to sit in his area if possible. - The Italian a la Carte restaurant provided good service and some of the best food we ate during the week. The tiramisu was fun and delicious. - The soft drinks were the well-known brands on draught, including iced tea, which we loved. - The bell boys/luggage service was effective and friendly. They were some of the more welcoming staff members. - The fitness activities were good, particularly the water aerobics with fun and engaging instruction. The negatives: - The food is average quality. The layout/system is poor so there are long queues for the cooking stations and it's chaotic. Most things were just fine, with only a few standout dishes. Breakfast was not good with no fresh pastries or continental meats. The fresh fruit was also either under or very over ripe with little flavour. The desserts are as expected for any all-inclusive, looks great, tastes bland. - The drinks are poor quality and they didn't have several components, such as coffee liquor, for the entire week. This meant we couldn't have lots of the cocktails listed on their menu and their alternatives were not worth drinking. The wine was poor quality. The 'fruit juice' was squash at best but incredibly sugary and not worth having. It also meant using it as a mixer made the whole drink bad. The only place to get a decent coffee is in the lobby bar. - The service was very hit and miss with lots of staff members coming across as rude. Guest relations had very little information and would send you to the reception. On arrival, we were told not to check the box to decline promotional emails, etc., which we assume means they agree to it for you later. - The entertainment staff were hit and miss with some very engaging and entertaining members and some who put in minimal effort. - The music around the pool is monotonous and loud. They also start moving sun beds around 1800 and will ask you to move. - The hotel maintenance and decor leaves a lot to be desired. This was probably once a very grand and well-looked-after building but now the cracks are showing. There are plenty of wonky light fittings, cracking skirting boards, wobbly tables, areas of peeling paint. In our room, the bathroom walls had chips/dents and drips of paint on the floor. The shower seemed to leak slightly in the corner and there was no extractor fan at all. - The beach was okay but the snorkeling wasn't very good as the water is murky. The whole area was disappointing for snorkeling. - While I enjoyed the Turkish Hammam experience, the spa is in need of repair. The coals in the sauna are completely exposed with bits of metal sticking out and broken floorboards that are just waiting to be tripped over. There is also nowhere private within each changing room to change and the main door is open to the hallway, leaving very little privacy.

We had a 10 night stay in July - family of four. We booked two standard rooms but emailed the hotel ahead of arrival to ask if the rooms could be above ground level so we were on the 1st floor and one room had a partial sea view. The rooms are quite dated and they could definitely do with a refurbishment and a deeper clean. We found the rooms functional though and the beds were comfortable plus we had a good sized balcony. If you are someone who looks for every detail though and expects a pristine modern room then perhaps this hotel is not for you!  The food options at the hotel were good. We found breakfast and lunch at the main buffet generally very good. Evenings could feel a bit lack lustre with quite a flat atmosphere in the main buffet. It was unpredictable whether you get served any drinks of an evening and the layout didn't always feel logical - took a few days to fathom out how to find spoons and extra cutlery and a bowl at breakfast. The other options in the hotel were handy and created more variety. The 24/7 bar is open for food whenever the main buffet is not serving and we generally had very good food there. In the afternoons, there are several options by the pool bar - waffles, hotdogs, sushi bar etc. We tried the Italian and Turkish places for lunch which made a nice change. Drinks in the lobby bar (reception) are excellent.... not sure why but they are so much better than the pool and windmill bar drinks, presumably they use a better quality of spirits. It is worth trekking up there for some of your evening drinks! The entertainment team were great and enthusiastic with a range of daytime activities and games. They make an effort with all the guests and manage a range of languages well. In particular Rhianna and the male team member who often runs the darts and other games went out of their way to engage people and due to being English speaking, they seemed to look out for the English guests. The evening parties at the hotel were entertaining to start with, and visually looked great, however they all follow the same format with dancers and a DJ who seems to play a very similar playlist each time. We saw a Turkish show at the amphitheatre which was good, and the hotel showed the world cup final which was appreciated.   Hidden away in a back room if you walk through the games room is a space with a few pool tables and table tennis tables. Unfortunately there is only one decent pool cue currently and this space needs a refurb but it is free to play which makes a nice change in a hotel. They also showed the football on a projector in there. There is a shop at the hotel but their prices are crazy. 9 euros for a tube of mr potato crisps, 5 euros for a bag of ruffles and silly prices for a ball or inflatables! No idea why they charge so much - they rarely have a customer so it is a wasted resource for the hotel as once people realise the prices (nothing labelled either) then they don't shop there. There is a Migros a 5 min walk away and our boys shopped well at Oscars in Gumbet about 15 min walk away. The hotel photography prices were reasonable and not too pushy for sales.  We used the Spa on day one for Turkish bath and massage which were good and booked a pavilion on the pier one day which was lovely. It would be good if there were options to book these for half days when they are empty as rhey are such a good space and often are not full. The watersports are reasonably priced compared to other hotels. One of our group used the gym daily and found it to be well equipped.  The scenery and views at the hotel are lovely. There are many places to sit and relax and look at the views. There are a lot of steps throughout the hotel as it is built on levels from beach level upwards but this is what makes it so scenic. However if you cannot manage steps, then this hotel would be difficult. The gardens are really well maintained and there are a few resident cats and kittens but they don't seem to come into the restaurant areas much.  A main bonus of this hotel was the ease to get sunbeds which can be such a stress on holiday. We always found loungers at the pool in the daytime and the pool is a great size and bigger than expected. The beach has 2 piers that guests can use, plus the pier with bookable pavilions. From the pool to the beach there are quite a few steps.  All of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere felt more like a small village than a hotel. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and with a refurb of the rooms and some tweaks to the main restaurant and shop facilities, this hotel could be even better.

Every thing was great from the reception desk to checkout, the food service was excellent specially that was provided by Bedia, Soner an Yosuf under the supervision of chef Hassan Acar at the main restaurant and Seven 24 restaurant's staff were also great, this resort is highly recommended for summer family vacations.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, and unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our experience. I’ll start with the room. It was in terrible condition. The bed sheets were torn and dirty, and the room itself was not properly cleaned. This hotel is in desperate need of major renovations and improvements. The food was very poor and extremely repetitive. For all three days, we were served almost the same dishes. Rice was present at virtually every meal, and there was very little variety. Overall, the food was disappointing. The beach was acceptable, but there were not enough sunbeds for the number of guests. The beach bar was also very poor. The containers used to serve and store the drinks were dirty, which was completely unacceptable. I can confidently say that this hotel does not deserve a five-star rating. At best, it is a three-star hotel. Unfortunately, this was a very poor experience overall. You truly disappointed us.

We are very happy to spend our vacation in Selectum Colours of Bodrum. We are third time here and enjoy our holidays! Everything is perfect: location, accommodation, food. The hotel staff helps with any request immediately if any! For kids so many activities! We are happy to be here!
