Erboy Hotel

Great location for a walk to tram, Whirling Dervish, harbour side - try Harviz Mustaffa -the Turkish Delight store recommended by Reception staf, for the best I've ever had and great gifts to take home. Very helpful and friendly staff throughout hotel and our stay over several days. Good value for room and breakfast. Though we usually vary our hotel when we visit Istabul as it's such a cosmopolitan and diverse city, we'd certainly return here.

Oh my God I went back to this hotel the second time , but what a disaster thinking it would be as pleasant as the first visit , but how did I get it so wrong . Absolutely horrible experience travelled with my daughter and two grandchildren the hotel staff had no common decency to open the doors with a struggling mother with a child in a pushchair, or even to help with luggage had to ask. On day before our flight as we were going to be picked up for the airport transfer early morning and asked for a wake up call and breakfast to go , would you believe it when we got to the reception we were told that there was no breakfast as it was noted down for it to be packed which just goes to show how inconsiderate the workers here are. On top of all this fiasco it states that it is a non smoking hotel but as soon as you go through to the floors all that hits you is cigarette smoke, non smoking my eye :( NOT very clean either. Also another thing was that any other hotels would provide water , but this one when asked about house keeping not leaving any bottles of water we were told that it was only complimentary on the first day the rest of the time we would have to pay for it . REALLY basic etiquette. My suggestion avoid at all cost .

I have stayed in countless hotels around the world, from budget accommodations to luxury international brands. I rarely write reviews, and I have never felt compelled to leave such a negative one before. However, after our experience at Erboy Hotel, I feel a responsibility to share it with future travelers. We chose this hotel largely because of its excellent reviews on Booking.com. Unfortunately, our experience was completely different. The first issue was the cleanliness of the room. It was surprisingly dusty. Both my child and I suffer from severe dust allergies, so this was not just a minor inconvenience—it directly affected our health and comfort throughout our stay. A hotel room should be a safe and clean environment, especially for families. However, the biggest disappointment was the behavior of one of the night receptionists. Only about twenty minutes after checking in, I went to the lobby to welcome my younger sister and her husband. They were only visiting us briefly to spend some time with our children while they were also in Turkey. This family gathering had been planned for more than eight months and meant a great deal to us. The receptionist immediately questioned whether we were actually guests of the hotel, despite having personally checked us in only twenty minutes earlier. He then raised his voice and told us that visitors were not allowed upstairs because of regulations in Istanbul. If that is indeed the hotel's policy or a legal requirement, I completely respect it. Hotels have every right to enforce their rules. What I cannot accept is the way this was communicated. When I politely asked whether this policy was written anywhere in the hotel's rules or guest information, he stared at me aggressively and replied, "It doesn't have to be written." I have never experienced such an unprofessional, disrespectful, and confrontational attitude from hotel staff anywhere in the world. The problem was never the rule itself. The problem was the complete lack of professionalism, courtesy, and hospitality. This happened on the very first evening of our holiday and immediately changed the mood of a family vacation that we had planned for eight months. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt embarrassed in front of our family and treated as though we had done something wrong. A simple, polite explanation would have been more than enough. I sincerely hope the hotel's management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training for the night reception staff. Hospitality is not only about offering a room; it is about treating guests with respect. The location of the hotel is excellent, which is unfortunately the only positive aspect that truly stood out during our stay. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Clean, amazing view from terrace, good breafast. Everything was perfect! And really kind stuff!

We stayed at the Hotel Erboy for 3 nights in mid April. We chose it for three reasons. First, it was rebuilt less than a decade ago supposedly to higher earthquake standards. I'm surprised that more hotels in Istanbul don't mention earthquake standards. Second the location is excellent, 10 minutes walk to the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, Basilica Cistern and Blue Mosque. Third, it has well deserved good reviews. We paid slightly more by booking a triple room to give us more space. I'm glad we did, it gave us the room we needed for our luggage etc. It was a corner room on a high floor and had a reasonable view towards the Bosphorus. The bathroom was tiny though. The breakfast was good. We ate in the restaurant there one evening. The food was slightly variable but mostly very good and reasonable value. The staff on the front desk were very helpful. We used their airport pickup service. In the time we were there it went up from €50 to €60. Was it worth it? Probably - it was reasonable easy although we did have to wait about 20 minutes at the airport to be picked up, And when waiting for the transfer back, our car was nearly 30 minutes late 'stuck in traffic'. In fact, we stayed our final night in Istanbul at hotel near the airport to avoid the long trabsfer from the city centre. One warning - it takes a long time to get through Istanbul airport with long queus at bag drop and particularly at passport control. Plus the airport is so huge that it takes 15 minutes to walk to the departure gate. If I went back to Istanbul, I would stay at the Hotel Erboy again.
