We have just got back from a lovely 9 night stay at the beautiful Sherwood Dreams Resort. I must say, as our holiday approached I was starting to get a little apprehensive having seen more and more negative reviews claiming people got sick and the hotel was poor. All I can say is ignore every single one of those reviews as it couldn’t be further from the truth. I usually don’t bother writing reviews but I hope this fills anyone reading this with the confidence to book and enjoy your stay. We booked with Jet2 and were booked into a normal room for 2 adults and a toddler. We were very fortunate as when we arrived we seem to have been allocated a family room which was amazing and absolutely perfect for us featuring a separate bedroom with 2 singles separated by a closing door to the main double bedroom. We had a balcony with a very poor view of the hotel next door but we didn’t pay for a sea view or pool view and to be honest this really wasn’t a big deal for us as we spend all of our time either at the beach or pool. Mini bar was restocked with soft drinks, water and beer every day free of charge. The food and drinks This was the biggest cause for concern for me as this was what many reviews focused on. Is it 5 star restaurant quality food? No, but it isn’t meant to be. It is your typical all inclusive buffet. Sometimes the food was not always particularly warm but that being said it depends on what you were choosing. Every night there was fresh grilled meats, a fresh cooked pasta station and a chef special. These were always being cooked freshly and were hot. My wife is 24 weeks pregnant and can be very fussy with food but I can honestly say that there was never a night where we couldn’t find something to eat and enjoy. None of us had upset tummy’s as so often gets reported. We ate in the Italian à la carte one night of our stay and portions were small but the food was very nice. Breakfast was more interesting but again, it’s that typical all inclusive buffet that is attempting to cater to all different cultures. Lunch time had a real nice selection. We never ate in the main restaurant so can’t comment there but the waves snack shack/ restaurant served burgers, chips, chicken donner wraps and minced beef wraps. All of this tasted great and the donner wraps were a firm favourite of ours throughout our stay. There was also a pizza restaurant which made fresh pizzas to order which were really tasty. Cocktails were tasty and lots of variety to choose from. One of us couldn’t drink and the other isn’t a big drinker so can’t comment too much on that front. The pools For the first part of our stay the main pool was cool but not ice cold. My 3 year old wasn’t a huge fan but her entire swimming experience has been in very heated and hydrotherapy pools so that isn’t surprising. It did however for our last 2/3 days become unbearably cold as we had a few days of quite poor weather. There is 1 small heated pool which my little girl preferred. The indoor pool was nice if not a little dark. The kids slide area was the same. Far too cold when the weather was poor. It was also a shame that it sprays quite as much water as it does as it meant our daughter rarely used in when it was running. Entertainment Weekly didn’t do much for the evenings due to having a young daughter who was very tired by the evening. We were also at the end of low season too so the amphitheatre was not yet open. We did however go to the mini disco every night which my daughter loved. Julia who runs the kids club is amazing and our little girl, along with every other child I saw fell in love with her. The robins kids club was great and whilst our daughter was too young to stay alone we attended every afternoon for a play in the park, soft play, crafting and hand painting. The fair is a little old and ropey but our little girl enjoyed it. It wasn’t all always working and depending on who was operating the rides depended on whether they’d allow me as an adult to ride with my little girl or not. The market on site is extremely overpriced and I would avoid it. Buy your food, and toys elsewhere. The clothes, shoes and bag shop however were all comparable in price to the Kent outlets and if they didn’t have what you wanted they would get it in for you. All in all we had a lovely stay and I would absolutely return in future. I did joke with Julia that I would return earlier next year to set up the amphitheatre lighting and sound system for them in exchange for a free holiday. If you are worried about booking, don’t be.
