Absolutely Horrendous Experience – Avoid This Hotel I genuinely do not know where to begin with this hotel. What should have been a relaxing holiday turned into one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and I would not recommend Sunthalia Hotels & Resorts to anyone. We arrived at 1am after travelling and were told our room was not ready. We were spoken to rudely and told to “shut up and listen”. We were then placed in a derelict-looking building and didn’t receive our actual room until around 4pm the next day, losing almost a full day of our holiday. Throughout our stay, we did not feel welcomed as British guests and at times felt uncomfortable around security staff, who came across as intimidating. We were also charged £370 for a simple wash and blow-dry in the salon, which felt completely excessive and unfair. Despite requesting cleaning daily, our room was not serviced once during our stay. The food was also very disappointing for an all-inclusive resort, and we ended up eating out every night. Evening entertainment was minimal, lasting about an hour. And then, to top everything off, the way we were treated when leaving was absolutely appalling. The hotel was not clear with us about our shuttle and we were left unsure about how much time we actually had before leaving. We asked whether we had enough time to quickly get some food from downstairs before our shuttle, as we had barely been able to eat during our stay. Instead of simply giving us a clear answer, we were laughed at and told, “It’s not my issue anymore, we don’t give a f. Take what you want and go away from the hotel.” Being spoken to like that as a paying guest, especially after everything we had already experienced, was disgusting. We were made to feel like an inconvenience rather than guests who had paid a significant amount of money to stay there. The only positive is that the hotel interior looks impressive, but this does not make up for the poor service, lack of cleanliness, intimidation from security, disappointing food and the overall feeling that we were simply not wanted there. This was not a 5-star experience in any sense. From arriving at 1am with no room, waiting until 4pm the following day, being spoken to disrespectfully, being placed in a derelict-looking building, being charged £370 in the salon, having our room ignored, being disappointed by the food and ultimately being told to essentially “take what you want and go away” when leaving — this holiday was an absolute nightmare. I would never return to this hotel and would strongly advise others to think twice before booking.

A truly well-deserved review ❤️ This is the first time I’ve ever genuinely felt the need to leave a review, because these people truly deserve it. My husband and I stayed here for 10 days, coming all the way from Europe, and we honestly had an amazing holiday. If you love loud music, partying and a fun, lively atmosphere, this is definitely the place for you! Of course, considering the price of the hotel, you shouldn’t expect five-star luxury when it comes to the food and certain details. But apart from that, we were extremely happy with our stay. We also stayed here two years ago. Back then, there were some great entertainment concepts, but unfortunately, some of the employees didn’t seem very happy or welcoming. This year, in August 2026, after the hotel got a new manager, we noticed a huge improvement in the overall quality and atmosphere compared to the previous two years. • Happy and friendly staff • Security available 24/7, which helped prevent conflicts during the nights • Entertainment and party concepts for both younger and older guests • Different events almost every day, sometimes on the beach with a beautiful stage and sometimes around the pool • Clean hotel and rooms, as they have always been • A beautiful, clean beach without stones • Food and drinks available at the beach as well • A shuttle bus running back and forth approximately every 15 minutes — only a 2–3 minute drive to the beach The guests were a real mix of people: Turkish locals, Europeans, Russians, Americans and many others. Personally, we don’t really care about where people come from. We were simply there to enjoy our holiday and spend quality time together as a couple. But the thing that impressed us the most — and truly earned our respect — happened on our third day. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience with the head animator. We had a conversation with the hotel’s general manager, and honestly, I thought nothing would happen because I assumed the animator was too important to the hotel. I was completely wrong. The management took our complaint very seriously, and the very next day, the animator was dismissed. The manager also made it very clear that nobody is allowed to treat the hotel’s employees badly — from cleaners to management — but at the same time, employees are expected to treat guests with the same respect. That really impressed us and doubled the respect we already had for this hotel. We felt safe, heard and taken seriously throughout our stay. We enjoyed all the facilities, made amazing memories and had a fantastic holiday together. We will definitely come back again and again to our favourite, relaxed hotel — with Turkish tea available 24/7!☺️❤️ Much love and respect to everyone who works here. ❤️

Extremely disappointing and not worth the money I paid around SEK 16,000 for 9 nights for one person, and this hotel was nowhere near worth the price. It is advertised as a 5-star hotel, but based on my experience, I saw very little that justified a 5-star standard. There is virtually no hotel territory, the location is noisy, and the walk to the beach is unpleasant, passing rubbish and poorly maintained areas. My room was tiny even for one person — I cannot imagine two people staying there comfortably. After complaining, I was moved to another room, but it smelled strongly of sewage, and the air conditioning kept switching off during the night. The reception service was particularly disappointing. Mehmet tried to charge me €70 cash for a transfer that I arranged myself for €45, and just as I was leaving, his colleague insisted that I had to wrap my suitcase in plastic before my flight. Advertised as 5-star, but in my experience there was very little that felt like a 5-star hotel. Poor service, disappointing accommodation and very poor value for money. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel.

My partner and I went to sunthaliya last week for our anniversary and were promised champagne on arrival and the possibility of an upgraded room. We arrived to find out there were no rooms in the hotel and were put for on night in an out building that had dirty plates everywhere and flys and smelt of sewage. We were moved the next day to the main hotel to a lovely room and Elena at guest services helped with this. The food at the restaurant is exactly the same for lunch and dinner every day no variation at all I have stayed in over 60 all inclusives and have never experienced exactly the same food in the same place without any variation. The breakfast toaster is broken. The staff are mostly really rude I asked if I could grab a banana from the restaurant 5 mins before it was fully opened and was refused. The drinks are all watered down and long queues at the bar. This is not a party hotel there is just a bit of party entertainment on in the evening and the off foam party with dj for a couple of hours. The beach requires a shuttle and is lovely really clear to swim in it was lovely and warm. Opposite has great shopping and a really good kebab place next door which was a pleasant break from the repetitive food in the hotel. My room only got cleaned once. My card key stopped working at least 6 times. Thoroughly recommend getting a taxi to side old town for approx £20 to see the sunset at Apollen temple and dinner at karma overlooking the sea. We also booked a boat trip for 20 euros pp which included lunch from there which I would recommend. There are far better value for money hotels than Sunthaliya this was my 4tt time returning to Turkey and I would not book this hotel again

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at – definitely not 5 stars We stayed at Sunthalia Hotels & Resorts from 8 to 14 July 2026, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. This was my sixth visit to Turkey, so I have plenty of experience with Turkish hotels and hospitality. In my opinion, this hotel absolutely does not deserve its 5-star rating. I would rate it as a 2.5 or 3-star hotel at best. The biggest disappointment was the service. The reception staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming, and the same applied to many of the bartenders at the pool. Almost nobody smiled, and we never felt genuinely welcome as guests. The whole atmosphere was cold and unpleasant. The food was another major disappointment. The choice was very limited, repetitive, and far below what I would expect from a hotel advertised as 5-star. I also had a very unpleasant experience with the hairdresser working in the salon downstairs. I had booked an appointment for 8:00 PM, but our plans changed, so I personally went to the salon in advance to politely cancel my appointment. Instead of simply accepting my cancellation, the hairdresser became extremely rude and told me not to come back, not to show myself there again, and that I was no longer welcome in his salon. I found this behaviour completely unacceptable and shocking, especially towards a hotel guest who had taken the time to cancel the appointment in person. We also tried to speak to one of the senior managers about our concerns, but instead of listening to us or trying to help, we felt completely ignored. Overall, the lack of friendliness, hospitality and basic customer service was shocking. I have visited Turkey six times and have stayed in many hotels, but this was genuinely one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. This is absolutely not a 5-star hotel in my opinion. At best, I would rate it 2.5 to 3 stars. I would not recommend it, and I would never return.
