Wyndham Istanbul Old City

I had a wonderful stay at the Wyndham Old City Istanbul. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of the historic area and within walking distance of major attractions. What truly made my experience exceptional was the outstanding team. The Concierge team — Bilal, Ömer, and Wafa — were incredibly helpful and always ready to assist with professionalism and a warm attitude. The Guest Relations team — Chaima, Sara, and Silan — ensured everything was perfect throughout my stay and made me feel genuinely welcomed. At the Reception, Sercan and Alp were efficient, friendly, and very accommodating. A special thanks as well to the bellboy Ilyas, who was always courteous and attentive. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, offering a relaxing atmosphere after a long day of exploring the city. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul and will definitely return on my next trip.

Everything was great. The room was clean and staff there to help whatever you needed to top up. Spa facilities excellent. Breakfast was a huge buffet that was constantly refilled. But most of all the staff were so friendly. They were genuinely there to help you. Wafa and Omer helped us plan we wanted to without being over pushy. Just wanting us to have the best tîme. Sarah was there and all the other staff there to help whatever we needed.

First of all, the room was very bad because its on the ground floor and has a tiny window where a large pipe obstructs the view that looks out to a garage. The tv was also not working for the first day. We left our items in the suitcase because we were promised to have a room change the following day. Unsurprisingly, that didn’t happen, when we followed up with them the next day they said they were full. Additionally the shower water was at an acceptable temperature at first, warm (which was the hottest it would go), however as the days progressed it became lukewarm and then just kept deteriorating. We brought up the issue and after an hour they had someone look at it for about 30 seconds and didn’t fix it nor give us a solution. The breakfast was not up to what you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Something you would see in a 2 star hotel. The main things they had was vegetables and cheese (maybe one selection of fruit) . They also had eggs, pancakes/waffles and some sort of fries, but that would change everyday. The waffles are solid and dry, I could barely slice the knife through it. The restaurant is also tiny, do expect not to find a table once you arrive! And when you do, it may be attached to someone else’s table or just having it way to close to the people next to you. The service was also non existent, there was maybe one lady standing around and she was mostly asking for reviews. Every time we went for breakfast something was missing from the table. It could be something as little as tissues, but with the non existent service it felt like a obstacle to obtain them. Additionally sometimes cutlery would be missing (it’s found by the buffet) and when you would bring up the issues they will bring out maybe two or three. We do not recommend this hotel it IS a 2 star hotel disguised as a 5 star hotel.

So this hotel is an absolute s##t hole! Sorry To be so blunt! Let me start with the building, so as a family of 7 with an infant and a toddler, this hotel was not child friendly. There’s is no way for pushchairs to get into the property on level ground, as the door which is supposed to be used as a pushchair friendly door is either always locked or not working!!! But also that supposedly pushchairs friendly door actually leads into an office!!! So if no one is in the office, to open the door, then you’re stuck, you will have to walk to the main entrance, leaving your pushchair outside on the walkway, go up the stairs to the receptionist, to ask them to open the door, for you to then walk back to the pushchair to walk back around to the pushchair door!!! This was not ideal, if I was alone with my baby I would not have been able to leave the baby in the pushchair on the sidewalk!!! So I would then have to remove my baby from the pushchair to go to reception to ask for the door to be open!!! Ok so on the last day the door is supposedly broken, so no pushchair was allowed to use the door! so the bell boy would help you to pick the pushchair up and take it down the stairs for you, however the stairs at the top, started with a automatic turning rotating door, so as you come out of the rotation doors your met with stairs and little to no space for a pushchair to safely exit the building, now the lack of space wasn’t just a health hazard, the rotating doors were at a constant pace, so if you walk out with little space behind you, your met with the full force of the rotating doors hitting you off the stairs with a pushchair in tow!!! It was awful, scary and Dangerous to say the least! This hotel is just not family friendly at all. Ok let’s move on to the rooms, please don’t be fooled by the pictures online and the decor, it’s a disguise, a ruse, the traditional gold look makes it look lush, but let me tell you this hotel is far from feeling lush! The layout of the hotel is awful, there are 2 sections to the hotel, the outer section and the inner section. The inner sections are awful, these rooms are in the middle of the hallways, so the best way for me to describe it, is like the backseat of a car, to the left there are rooms with windows, to the right there are rooms with windows, but the middle are just square rooms with no windows! Also all the middle rooms have 2 doors in the rooms one to the left corridor and one to the right corridor which means you get 2 sets of noise, from each corridor! Also these middle rooms are small, barely enough space to move around in! And considering we had children we expected a family room and was told all rooms accommodate families!!! Ha, no they do not, we complaints on the first night we were there, the room was not big enough for a cot bed!!! Then the second one was no different still no space for a cot bed!!! We asked for the cot bed to be removed because of the lack of space and he never returned!!!! Anyway moving on to the air con, do not be fooled by the air con controller in your room, there is a main switch which operates the air con, and in low seasons they switch off air con and only allow for fan usage! Had to have the maintenance out a number of times before they admitted to switching off the air con facilities for all paying guests!!! We had no option but to continue to stay as we were there for a wedding and had no time in between to look for another accommodation but I would not return here! Never!

My wife and I have just returned from four night stay at this hotel, I don’t write many reviews but having seen some of the negative ones I felt compelled to write this one Firstly the location of the hotel is excellent ten minute walk to grand bazar another ten minutes to the blue mosque, there is a metro station and trams close to the hotel so you can cover Istanbul quite easily, we found the staff very helpful especially the concierge desk who booked restaurant reservations for us, no one tried to sell us anything Because of its location you are not going to wake up to spectacular views of the city, please bear this in mind, our room on the top floor was fine it had a massive bed and was cleaned everyday Breakfast was substantial,plenty of choice, and again the staff were very friendly We used the indoor pool complex which was very pleasant, and all in all our stay was excellent value for money We love Istanbul and if we return we would strongly consider using this hotel again One strong word of warning,nothing to do with the hotel but Istanbul is now very expensive for eating out and drinking Usual bargains still available for shopping
