Since returning home, I’ve gone back and forth between awarding our stay at The Residence 4 or 5 stars, and I’ve eventually settled on 4. Having previously stayed at the Sensatori next door twice, and Akra Sorgun once, we arrived with very high expectations — particularly given the general consensus that The Residence offers “next level luxury”. My husband and I are both food lovers, so we were especially excited about the dining. We were also really looking forward to the tranquillity, as this was our first child-free holiday abroad in over 20 years. We do have high standards, and this review is quite detailed because of the price point of the hotel. Accommodation Our room was beautiful. The Emperor bed was enormous and extremely comfortable, and the bedding felt very high quality. The room was spotlessly clean throughout our stay, and the twice-daily towel replacement and turndown service were lovely touches. The minibar, alcoholic drinks selection, coffee pods and plentiful snacks were also very welcome. At night, once the entertainment had finished, the room was very quiet, and we slept extremely well. There were just a couple of minor negatives. The toilet area felt a little unfinished in terms of décor, and the cushion on our balcony sunbed was stained. It also felt as though our pillows may have been changed during the stay to softer ones — I’m not sure if this did happen, but both my husband and I noticed a difference. Food Food was the area we were most excited about, and unfortunately it was also the area that didn’t quite meet our expectations. There were definitely some highlights. The Turkish breakfast at The Balkon was beautiful, and the honeycomb with cream was an absolute delight. We were lucky to have fabulous weather that day too, which made the whole experience feel very special. Overall, however, we felt the food didn’t consistently hit the mark. There were small details, such as spelling mistakes on the menus — for example, “Red Whine” — and some dishes were quite different from how they were described. The Chef’s Night steak dish was disappointing, and a few dishes looked very impressive but lacked flavour, particularly some of the desserts. Some portion sizes were also very small. I appreciate that you can order as much as you like, but until the dish arrives, you don’t know the size of it. At that point, ordering extra doesn’t always work well, especially if you dislike food waste. That said, the service in every restaurant was excellent. Drinks We were slightly disappointed by the cocktail offering. The cocktails that were available were good quality, but at times it felt a little more style than substance. Compared with the Sensatori next door, where different bars offer different cocktail menus, the choice felt more limited. There appeared to be two main menus - one for The Balkon, and one covering the Cuphea Bar, swim-up bar and lobby bar. That being said, Omer in the cocktail bar was fantastic and would happily make whatever you wanted. He even created an original cocktail for me, which we named the “Spicy 44”! The branded alcohol was excellent quality and very plentiful. Again, the service was superb. Pool The pool is a fabulous size, but it was absolutely freezing in late April/early May. We did brave it a few times, but a heated outdoor pool outside of the main season would have made a big difference. Entertainment Entertainment was a little hit and miss. Our favourite entertainment was on Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm, when there was a DJ alongside either a percussionist or saxophonist. This was absolutely brilliant and created a fabulous atmosphere for pre-dinner drinks. The later evening entertainment felt a little under par by comparison. It was also very cold in the evenings. The staff did hand out blankets, which was appreciated, but patio heaters around the outdoor sofas — as we’ve seen at Sorgun — would have been a very welcome addition. Service in the entertainment area was excellent, and our glasses were never empty. Grounds The Residence has lush gardens and lots of greenery, but a few areas let it down. The bridges crossing over the pool had quite a lot of weeds growing through, which made them look a little tatty. The Residence also lacked the colourful planting of the neighbouring resort. There were some stunning orange flowers near the restaurant and lobby area, but otherwise the landscaping was mainly green. We didn’t see gardeners working on The Residence side during our stay, whereas next door there always seemed to be teams keeping everything neat and tidy. In addition, the grassed area with sunbeds between the resort and the beach looked rather unkempt and messy. Overall We did have a lovely holiday, and there were many positives — particularly the room, cleanliness, branded drinks and consistently excellent service. However, given the price point and the reputation of The Residence, we expected a little more. For us, the food, cocktail choice, evening atmosphere and some areas of the grounds meant it didn’t quite reach the “next level luxury” we had hoped for. Would I rush back? Probably not, but we are still very glad we experienced it.
This was our second visit to this wonderful hotel, and somehow it managed to exceed our already very high expectations. The grounds are absolutely stunning — beautifully maintained, peaceful, and the perfect setting for a truly relaxing stay. What really makes this place exceptional is the people. Every single member of staff we encountered was outstanding: warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely committed to making every guest feel special. The level of service throughout our stay was simply faultless. The food was superb in every respect, with outstanding quality, presentation, and variety. Every meal was a real highlight. Our room was equally impressive — spacious, immaculately clean, extremely comfortable, and very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The fact that this was our second visit speaks volumes, and we were so impressed once again that we have already booked to return in 2027. That says everything about how special this hotel truly is. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
Just returned from our 5th visit to this amazing hotel and we are already on countdown for our return in October. Straight away it just felt like we were returning home and seeing old friends and we really do appreciate all the wonderful staff who go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing time. Special mentions to Ibrahim on guest relations who goes above and beyond to help, Arsu our wonderful maid, the ever professional Murat in the repertory, Mustafa in the repertory, a very pleasant and helpful young man,Tommy from cuphea bar and lobby bar and last but not least Onur who works tirelessly on the beach and in other areas, such a lovely young man. Food and drinks were as good if not better than previous visits and the only disappointment was that the entertainment wasn't as good as usual, with the exception of Kaan Kobul, Firat Arkasel and the amazing fly out acts. All in all thoughanother wonderful stay in our special place , wouldn't dream of going anywhere else
My husband and I have just returned home following a 2 week stay at The Residence Akra Fethiye…..I’m not usually lost for words, nor do I usually leave hotel reviews but this hotel is simply outstanding! If you’re anything like us, you will have done your research, liked the look of the rooms, the pool, the grounds, the food, the general aesthetic, however in our case the reality far exceeded the already high expectations. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, we were made to feel so welcome by every single staff member and we were immediately struck by the “zen like” ambience of this beautifully classy and elegantly understated hotel. Seriously the pictures alone do not do this place justice! If you are looking for a peaceful holiday in stunning surroundings with exceptional food and drink offerings (Cocktails in the Balkan Bar are a must, and the traditional Turkish breakfast should not be missed!) , wonderful warm friendly and super professional staff, then this is the place for you ! The staff really are the heart and soul of this place and we can’t praise every single staff member highly enough. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Special thanks to Dogan at Cuphea for your sense of humour, always going above and beyond , and always getting our drinks order spot on before we’d even asked! Also to Kubra ( hope I’ve spelt your names right!) for your warmth and friendliness . Shout out also to Zeki , Namik, and Omer who all made our holiday extra special with their attention to detail, enthusiasm, kindness and exceptional service. We always said we would never go back to the same place twice …. Thank you to you all and FYI it was a “no brainier!” We are coming back next year!
This hotel is second to none. So much so we are returning for the third time this year. The staff can’t do enough for you and the food and drinks are just sublime. I’ve only refrained from posting till now as I don’t want it to sell out! Please ignore any reviews about supposed animal cruelty - the person who made the last post isn’t even there right now and has used pictures from someone else’s Facebook post. Yes there are stray cats there but we have only ever seen the staff feed and care for them. Do not let these reviews put you off an absolutely fantastic holiday
