We visited Club Marvy as a family of 4 staying for 11 nights in a family interconnecting room. We came across CM after seeing the clips on social media. Our main reasons for ultimately deciding on CM were as follows:- - the connecting bedrooms - choice between pool & beach - on site water park - different food options On arriving at the hotel we were told that our room wasn’t ready so we would be upgraded to a 3rd floor penthouse suite in the main building, but only for 1 night! The penthouse was huge with the biggest bed I’ve ever slept in, it would comfortably sleep 4 adults. The second bedroom had 2 single beds with its own en- suite bathroom. The mini bar was well stocked, there was also an ice bucket with 2 bottles of sparkling wine plus a drinks trolley with full bottles of gin, whisky, vodka & tequila. As we arrived just after 10pm we had to wait just a short while to make use of the late night buffet that starts at 1130pm. While we waited for the buffet to open I made an enquiry at reception to see if the bottles of sparkling wine and spirits in the penthouse were complimentary, the receptionist made a short phone call and confirmed that we were free to help ourselves to these if we wanted. I immediately made a nice G&T for my wife and I, only to then receive a call to the room so say that these were chargeable. When I advised that I had opened the bottle of Tanqueray gin already I was told that I wouldn’t be charged. This was all a little farcical. Mid way through day 2 we were told that our family connecting room was ready and we were asked to pack up and leave the penthouse. This whole process was handled fairly badly by the staff as we had agreed on a 130pm time to move only for the 2 staff members to arrive late and then get stuck because the lift had stopped working for the 3rd time that day. After a quick chat with the duty manager the move happened at last. There was no apology for the way this was handled for a problem that was of the making of the hotel. Once settled into our new rooms we were then able to settle into the daily routine of life at CM. We spent the first couple of days at the Marvy pool but then spent the rest of our holiday at the infinity pool. We found the infinity pool to be more chilled plus it gave us better access to the water park. Our family connecting rooms were fine, however there is 1 massive issue that really needs to be resolved before I would ever consider returning to CM; the bed height. It is absolutely ridiculous that my children have 2 lovely single beds on normal bases in their room but the mattress for my wife and I is basically just on the floor. We are both in our early 50s and relatively fit but getting in & out of a mattress on the floor for 11 nights is not good enough for a hotel like this. Having spoken with other hotel guests I know we aren’t the only people who weren’t happy with this set up, we didn’t bother complaining as we were advised that if you do complain all they do is give you a mattress topper that increases the height by an inch or 2. Asides from that we had a blocked sink that was cleared the same day, the daily maid service was efficient and non intrusive. Whoever decided on putting the bedroom mattresses on the floor without a base was obviously in charge of picking the poolside sunbeds as again these were just too low for my liking. Some regular chairs to sit in would also be a nice option please CM. Parasols by the Marvy pool were a little small and the ones by the infinity pool were bigger but in need of a clean. There are plenty of positives at CM but if you are of a certain age then this is not the place for you. It is a big site and there are a lot of steps, 71 from our room to the Marvy pool to be exact. My daily step count average for the 11 days was just under 10k and that doesn’t include the times when I didn’t have my phone with me, like going to the slides/bar/toilet/etc. The food is generally good albeit a little repetitive in the main buffet. We recommend a trip to the steak house, lunch at the adults only restaurant on Kesre Bay if you can ditch your kids, lunch at Boa, pizza at Buono on the Beach and waffles from ice cream bar next to the Stage bar. It’s a shame that the Degirmen is adult only as it is a beautiful spot with amazing views. Drink choices are excellent and the waiter service to your sunbed is good in the main. WiFi works well throughout the hotel, my kids really enjoyed the water park and the youngsters club. There isn’t much in the way of entertainment and night times can be quiet, the local town is a €5 cab fare away and contains all the shops you may want for the fake gear but it’s quite rough & ready, once was enough. The beach and sea are absolutely the best part of CM, the sea is calmest in the morning so best for snorkelling then as it does get quite choppy later in the day. Be careful not to lose your sunglasses in the waves like I did! Snorkelling off the pier in the morning is great for seeing the local sea life. We enjoyed paddle boarding, mornings are definitely the best time for this activity. The location really makes CM If you can handle all the steps. The views across to Samos from the infinity pool are stunning Would we go back? Probably not but despite the gripes it is a lovely hotel and we are glad we came.
