Richmond Ephesus Resort

We booked this 5 star hotel to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and I have to say it was the worst hotel we have every been in unfriendly staff terrible food we arrived at midnight and we were brought to a room in what’s called H block the smell of damp was terrible and there was a dbl bed with no top sheet and a small cover there was also a set of bunk beds my husband questioned this and he was told they would be made into a couch he went to reception the next morning requesting another room in the main part of the hotel he was told the only room available had no balcony turned out to be for a wheelchair user again to top sheet they told him they would have a room with a balcony on Friday the fourth day of our holiday we got this there was a proper cover on the twin beds no tea/coffee facilities the shower tiles were covered in mould this hotel seems to be for Turkish/Eastern European tourists as the food was awful my husband asked the chef for some plain chicken and after 15 minutes he was given something that did not look anything like chicken. I have never wanted to get home from a holiday this was our fifth time to visit turkey and it will be our last the staff were so unfriendly and unhelpful. A tourist from Ireland

A decent transfer time from airport to hotel, even though there is a small shop located on site it is limited and any other local shops are a 15 to 20 minute taxi drive away. It was very quiet for most of our holiday alot of adults and not so many children. The atmosphere is okay, some of the staff are friendly but most look miserable and they don't want to be there. The rooms are an ok size however, they did mix up our rooms up, showers are small aswell the balconies. Our bathroom sink dripped whenever we run the tap and even reporting this, nothing got done. The shower rail was half off the track, this was fixed quickly. There was little animation team/ entertainment of an evening. The rooms were 50/50 with cleanliness.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Richmond Ephesus resort. We arrived at 2.30 am, and my wife had previously arranged for some food to be ready as we were arriving late; this was agreed by the hotel. On arrival, we checked in with no porter service to take the cases to the room, and we were handed a cheap plastic box wrapped in cling film that contained our meal. We made our way to the room and opened the meal box only to find a stale sandwich and a very badly bruised apple. We left the food and retired for the night. The next morning we went to the restaurant as soon as it opened at 7.00 am, only to find that this hotel only serves Turkish food, nothing that slightly resembled an English breakfast, not even a toast machine. The fresh juice machine only served watered-down juice. We made the best of what we could, ending up with bread and jam. As we sat down at the outside part of the restaurant, people were lighting up cigarettes; this was the main issue for the rest of the week. Later that day, we walked to the beach bar looking forward to a cocktail by the sea; that was a mistake. The cocktails were made from very cheap spirits and watered-down fruit juice; they were absolutely disgusting, and you could see that the staff had not been trained on how to make cocktails. The smoking situation got worse as we were sat in the beach bar that has a large canopy above it; the number of people smoking made it impossible to sit and enjoy a drink. The tables were left with dirty, full ashtrays on them. We then tried the beach; the sunbeds were absolutely disgusting, stained and damp. We decided to walk along the beach, but while the sand had been cleaned at the rear of the hotel, as soon as you passed the hotel boundary line, the beach became horrible, covered in plastic bottles and people's waste. This was the situation for the entire week, Evening meals were traditional Turkish food that only consisted of Tasteless stews or baked fish. Having to make do with a salad and bread for every meal became annoying; all this, and we had to sit in areas that were overwhelmed with cigarette smoke, even inside the restaurant, because they had the large doors open, letting all the smoke in. Now for the entertainment staff, one chap we didn't catch his name was only interested in a group of English ladies that were staying at the hotel. During the day, he would be sitting on the sunbeds with them and not doing anything else; he reminded us of Mateo from the TV series Benidorm. The other entertainment staff were good at trying to involve everyone in the activities. The entertainment was hit and miss; some acts were very poor while others were very good, the best being the fire show. The grounds of the hotel were very nice, as were the pools, but most of the staff do not speak English. This was our first visit to Türkiye, and after this experience we will not be rushing back. Mainly, this was down to the smoking situation and the poor food; even though the food was presented well at the buffet, it had no taste, and you can only eat so many stews in a week. We booked a 5-star resort and got a 3-star at best, as we were leaving people on the transfer coach who said that they wouldn't be returning or recommending this hotel to anyone. If you like tasteless food and cigarette smoke, this hotel might be the one for you, but it definitely wasn't for us

We had a wonderful stay at Efesus Richmond Hotel. The hotel was lovely, the service was excellent, and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Mr. Adil, the hotel manager, who was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay. He made sure everything was perfect and always went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. We truly enjoyed our stay and felt very well looked after. Thank you to Adil and the whole team for the excellent hospitality. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don't often write reviews but this place deserves to be left a great review. Fantastic location for a holiday, 15 min taxi ride to Kusadasi center and the resort itself is fantastic. Set in large exotic and manicured gardens, so spacious it never felt busy.. 2 great pools plus slides to use.. the food and drink was continuous and a good standard. The staff were the best we've ever had in a hotel..all super friendly, hard working and attentive. Will definitely be re booking as soon as possible for next year.. Love the place!
