Sunis Efes Royal Palace

We flew with SunExpress for first time, what a lovely experience. Staff onboard were very smiley, pleasant and made for a great journey. There was a short commute from airport to the hotel. It turned out to be a wonderful holiday, beautiful, immaculate hotel. Great for couples of families. Spacious pool areas and great beach with plenty of loungers to accommodate. Buffet restaurant was huge, it had a brilliant selection, also a good selection of premium drinks in the many available bars, available on all inclusive package. Food and drink available 24 hrs. Very helpful, friendly staff. Nice size room with air con and stocked fridge. Great activities for families including cinema, ice cream parlour, amazing spa ( I paid extra for 4 massages which were worth every penny) indoor pool/gym facilities. Such a great relaxing holiday, we would most definitely return. Only downside was only one on site shop sold ridiculously priced sun cream.

Very clean, spacious, quiet hotel Ressort. You can find everything at the buffet. I love the lunch buffet at the pools - main restaurant is closed over lunch. Fresh different salads, various veggies and for sure meat and fish. Start with Hamam and continue with massages they recommend for you - a must! Rooms without carpets - love it. The beds so comfy, aircon in every room. The fitness area is ok. Unfortunately you cannot go for a run at the beach - but for a short walk it’s fine. Enough sun beds for everybody. Rent a car at the reception to go to Ephesus. Must see and afterwards to Kushadasi - little bit of shopping and strolling.

A lovely hotel. Having been to several 4* hotels around the world (including Dubai, Indian Ocean & America), this is a very good example of a 4*. The public areas of the hotel are spotlessly clean. The public toilets are plentiful, clean & always maintained. There were quite a few lifts going to all floors. Never had an issue with having to wait. Generally, we got good service from the bars we used. We liked the Irish bar (quiet with background music or sport), & in the afternoon to the patisserie for a latte & cake. Both are on level -1. Make sure you go along & enjoy. You can also get an ice cream cone from the snack bar area in the middle of the pool/ beach area. There was so much selection in the buffet restaurant that there was no way people couldn't find something to eat. Those who claim it is very samey are just fussy. We went to the al la carte Turkish restaurant. Again, there was so much. I had to cancel my dessert because I couldn't find room for it. There were so many places to get something to eat, & we actually never used all the places. The bedroom wasn't overly big, adequate for our needs. Great storage & a working safe. The bed was big & very comfortable. The aircon was good & very quiet. Mini bar was filled daily. The best bit was the shower. So powerful & hot water plentiful. We had a couple of issues (no plug for the sink & the lights out in the bathroom), but these were sorted before we returned from our time around the pool. We didn't use the beach. We did go down there, but there's a lot of shade, so if you are sun worshippers like us, we found it quite restricted. We stuck to the big pool area near the water slides. Just to say, the pool water was very cold! Everything we needed was close by, & away from the loud music. The only thing we found was there were so many sunbeds that had it been really busy or middle of summer we'd have found this to be an invasion of our personal space. There was no room between them. Thankfully, it was quieter, so we took an extra bed to give us some room. What we quickly worked out was that it wasn't necessary. A couple of days after we arrived, they removed a lot of the beds. There is nothing to do around the hotel, so you do need to get transport away from the area. All in all, we had a lovely restful week.

Just got back to UK after a week at SunisEfes . . . Clean, palatial in an old fashioned way. Nice room overlooking the sea. Staff always polite and helpful. The food . . . Well they say you eat with your eyes, the food here is the biggest let down. Pastries and fruit are plentiful as is salad, but the main courses are a serious let down and visually disappointing with a feeling that quality has been sacrificed for quantity.

I recently stayed at the Sunis and had an overall ok experience with a few positives and some negatives. The Hotel was spotlessly clean and all staff warm and welcoming A shout out to Elif at the pier bar for her daily pina coladas and the bar man in the Irish bar. Both fantastic with service and drinks The weather was perfect and despite a few loud and entitled guests we managed to relax Rooms - A bit dated with some mould in the shower cubicle. The TV that couldn’t be switched to English despite it being in settings. Although watching TV on holiday isn’t a priority it would be nice to have it to maybe watch a movie etc. We did go to the cinema room but it smelt really bad. There are no USB ports so don’t forget plugs and adapters. Dining - The buffet is too small for the number of guests with food quality and variety being disappointing. Breakfast ok with shout out to the omelette lady. Speciality nights were not replenished quick enough leading to queues. The a la carte restaurants were ok but you only get 1 free per week out of 5. You can pay an additional €50 pp if you want anymore. Personally i thought this a bit steep given the limited menu and wine being part of your all inclusive. The Chinese was nice and although the food in the Turkish was good the experience wasn't. It was rushed despite us asking for a breather between courses. I had used my cutlery for my starter so when the main came the waiter took my dirty cutlery off the plate and gave it back lol. In the Turkish restaurant there were several un supervised children running about screaming, crying and fighting with no intervention from parents or staff along with my rushed meal dirty cutlery and screaming kids not a good experience (if i had paid €50 i would have been raging) . I suggested to guest relations that maybe adult only days or times for those of us that are not there with children I appreciate it isn’t and adult only ( far and few in Turkey) but those that don’t should not be penalised for not bringing kids Booking the al a carte restaurant is also outdated - booking at guest relations on the day felt outdated- you need an app. Last hotel i used i had booked all my al a cartes, cabana and room so i just enjoyed my holiday without queuing etc. My final thoughts - i have been visiting Turkey since the mid 90s and sadly i have noticed a change/decline. At this particular hotel British guests were not particularly catered for, despite being sold through several uk outlets. I stopped tipping (always tip - barman waiters and housekeeping) because literally nobody else did and got better service without using please ot thank you. (he who shouts loudest and without manners appear to be treated better) I wouldn’t go back to Sunis - the hotel has potential but needs to up the anti in guest relations, food and modernisation
