Surtel Hotel

Tired 1980’s style hotel in need of updating. Room 301 had an incredible sea view and super close to centre and all local amenities. Be aware that the car park, whilst relatively close is incredibly steep and you take a chance in not getting stuck if you have a low profile car.

Just awful! Lobby is quite nice and clean however when you get to the rooms it’s a different story. Extremely outdated. Double bed was 2 camp beds pushed together. Bathroom was a disgrace and shower curtain was dirty. The terrace was dirty and had what looked like hair and blockage around the hole on the floor. ***wifi does not work in any bedrooms, only lobby and that was intermittent. We were there 4 days and bedding was changed once and toilet roll topped up, nothing was cleaned. Breakfast (no word of a lie) was boiled eggs, toast, lettuce and a hotdog sausage- we didn’t eat there once. The pool on the roof looks nothing like the photos advertise, it’s scruffy and dirty. A man on reception every time we asked a question he wanted a tip. We said that we were so thankful we were only there for 4 days as if was any longer I think I would have invested in moving hotels. I would have been devastated if I’d saved all year round to stay there. The hotel was not busy at all which spoke volumes I thought. I feel abit bad writing which a terrible review but I was miserable the time I was there and I think it needs to change. The only positive was it was a great location.

We are currently staying at surtel hotel. The first couple of days were very lovely here. The hotel location is amazing and the views from the bar are very nice. But the bar and wait staff really let the place down. At the begining it was easy ignore but it is really creating a bad atmosphere here for us. I asked to speak to a manager who was out. I was told a time to return and when I did, the manager has completely ignored me. They refuse to give you ice unless you tip them. We wanted to order some extra drinks because the bar closed at eleven and we told no. We won't let them ruin our stay but I'd only recommend staying here if you can ignore bad manners. It's location will no doubt always make it busy but I'd sleep here only if I returned.
