AHG Sun Bay Mlilile Beach Hotel

This has to be the best hotel I have stayed in. The staff are fantastic. Everyone is so happy and helpful. The service was excellent, I have no complaints. We were always welcomed with a big smile. The hotel is impeccably clean, all of the cleaners and gardeners clearly take pride in their jobs and this shows. The food was gorgeous, no complaints. I really loved the breakfast. The room was beautiful and we had an amazing spot right next to the pool, restaurant and a sea view. Please note there is no lift so if you can’t manage the stairs request a ground floor, we did and we were easily accommodated thank you! We loved how quiet the hotel was, the music they played was really chilled and there was only entertainment on 3 nights a week, even then noise ended at 10pm. We walked into the village with the animation staff and this is an experience worth doing. We went to the shops and bought biscuits for the children. The pools were well maintained and clean. The sea is beautiful and warm. The manager was really present and very friendly, greeted us everyday and he was present when we left to say goodbye. I won’t ever forget this hotel, just prefect.

Check in was very quick, room was lovely fresh fruit, large bed, straight on to the sand was amazing, shower very good, air con was imo not very good but it worked, food and drinks were excellent breakfast lots of choice, lunch was great salads fish meat pasta a good choice, dinner was lovely always a fish and beef or chicken, salads sushi samosas very excellent fresh fruit and 2 deserts, always lots of tables and waiters who were lovely Beach was amazing a row of beds and always available and surprisingly comfortable the sea was lovely and warm There wasn’t much entertainment but it was very good when it was on We loved the pool by the restaurant it was very easy to get in and very quiet so lovely The hotel was so clean and tidy not one bit of rubbish around it was great to see I really loved this little hotel it was such a surprise as it was very small but it was fantastic all the staff were super friendly Liydia Abeth and Rona were just a few names I recalled they were great We went to La palma next door for dinner twice it was lovely we had a curry and lobster which was amazing as were the samosas and the service I’d definitely recommend going here We did a trip with viator which was very good value as the hotel was a lot more for the same thing This is a small boutique hotel yes there are bits that are a bit dated and could do with a lick of paint but it wouldn’t put me off going again I’d definitely return. The “warriors” on the beach are soooo annoying and relentless they can’t come close to the beds on the beach but they can shout out to you the guards do a good job keeping them in check though.

A beautiful hotel in an amazing setting. The wonderful staff here really make this place special and any problems or questions are dealt with very quickly. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Huge TV and some toiletries supplied (Do take conditioner. Can't buy any anywhere) Wifi is pretty good. Drops out occasionally but we were still able to watch most things on the firestick. Bed large. Could do with an extra pair of pillows and a memory foam topper as it was quite hard but we coped. That's a suggestion, not a criticism. Two pools, both of which were kept immaculate as were the beautiful grounds. Shower fine. The beach is great when the tide goes in although the sellers that walk up and down are relentless (but not aggressive) which put me off a bit. Kettle, coffee and water supplied in the room but not tea bags or milk though they are available in the restaurant. Food is extremely fresh and tasty but a little limited. (Only two choices for desert for instance) That said, this is only a small hotel so we can understand why and fruit (absolutely delicious) in abundance. We did three trips. Safari, snorkeling and shopping in the ten days we were here. All unforgettable experiences and worth every penny. Thank you to Marco and his incredible staff for a holiday that will be remembered for a long time.

Step out of the hotel onto an amazing beach with warm sea. The hotel staff are warm and friendly. Special thanks to Abeth, Ibrahim and Matilda who always had a smile and it was lovely to chat to them, just as it was to chat to all the staff. We stayed in the new block with a sea view, perhaps the room cost slightly more, but definitely worth it. The restaurant food was excellent and no complaints about the all inclusive drinks too. The hotel had evening entertainment which we enjoyed too, but be aware it is a quiet place, certainly in the 10 nights we were there, so don’t go for a party atmosphere as you’ll not find it. However. you could always choose sun loungers regardless of the time of day! The hotel offers trips around the island, although we only used them once as they were quite expensive compared to very similar trips offered elsewhere. We used ‘Light Tours’ who are advertised on the beach directly outside the hotel. Jongo and Coochi (probably spelt wrong) were good guys and really looked after us. I understand that using guys on the beach could seem risky, but we used them 3 times and they were great!! As I said, much cheaper too and remember that the price they quote can still be negotiated downwards. Finally, we felt the hotel location was good as you could easily get to Stone Town, Nungwi (go for sunset and cocktails) and Jozani Forest.

We have just returned from a two week stay at this hotel and cannot wait until we can return again. The hotel offers a truly relaxing stay with excellent staff and good food. The beach is perfection and whilst there are many beach sellers trying to make a living, they are polite and respectful. We stayed in an ocean front room which was well maintained and cleaned daily. If you’re looking for the glitz and glam of a busy hotel with lots to do every day this is not for you. I’d however you want a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing break it is perfection. Staff take time to remember your name, notice when you’ve missed a meal service and are generally just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and the massage service was very good. The manager was present every day and the hotel seemed to work like clockwork with guests wellbeing and enjoyment at the centre of everything. There are always things that could be improved upon and I guess for me I would suggest that real glass was used during the evenings rather than the plastic that was offered for anything other than wine. But if that’s the only thing I could complain about then that says everything about our stay! We will be back for sure …
