This hotel misses the mark on lots of areas to make it a great hotel. That being said, it does have some good points. We arrived early morning after an overnight flight. Of course our room wasn't ready yet (and wouldn't expect it to be). Good point here is that there is a great 'lounge' where you can have a shower, freshen up and get changed. We were able to go down to the pool, get some towels and relax a bit before having lunch. After lunch we went back to reception where our room was ready. We booked a Junior Suite with Limited Sea View (very very very limited sea view!) and Balcony or Terrace. Room was clean and facilities were good. However the water was very intermittent. Varying in heat and completely stopped once whilst mid shower. Accessibility - if you have trouble with mobility this hotel may cause issues. There are multiple staircases to navigate. There are other paths around the property where you could use ramps, however these seemed to be used mainly by the staff in little buggies (that didn't care if you were there or not) and were quite steep. Food - there are a number of restaurants, all which are booked via the app. Easy to use but just make sure you book ahead as days and times do get booked out. We ate at all the restaurants and would say the food was just average. Nothing really stood out as being great - it was all a bit... bland. Staff seem to rotate around the restaurants. Some were lovely and helpful, others not so much. We were there for 10 days and after about 6 days the food got a bit boring with the same items on offer so not much choice. The quality wasn't great either. The beach bbqs seems a bit hectic, service slow and food items ran out. Activities - great selection of free activities bookable through the app. Some more popular than others so make sure if you want to do something, book it as early as you can. All staff at activities were friendly and helpful. Pools/ Sun beds - we stayed mainly by the main pool by the beach. Water was warm enough, although the pool did seem to get a bit dirty and could do with more of a clean. We are early risers so we had breakfast by 8am latest - we were amongst the first there every day, this was in the uk summer holidays. Most mornings we had the pool to ourselves until around 9:30am. Sun beds were nice and comfortable, however most of the umbrellas were broken so were a bit tricky to put up. Service around the pool was very hit and miss. Some days there were plenty of staff, other days there seemed to be none. This meant obviously going to the bar to get your own drinks, which didn't bother us - but if you are looking for good service this might miss the mark for some. The hotel/ Tui does offer trips out but we found that it was a lot cheaper organising the trips ourselves and most of which were private rather than group tours. Check out - as we had a later flight we wanted to request late check out and were advised this can only be requested on the day of checkout. So the morning we are due to leave we went to reception to request late check out. Were told to have breakfast and come back. Not sure why and what exactly the difference asking 30 minute later would have made??? Late check out is payable, but meant we could be by the pool all day and not have to worry. Beach - due to the big tidal change there is no beach at either low tide, or high tide. There is an area which has been created for people to relax on the sand in a protected area, and steps down to the beach/ sea. As soon as you go near to the 'barrier' that has been created you are instantly shouted at from below by beach boys trying to sell you goods or excursions. We don't like being hassled on holiday so didn't go to the beach that often as it was really off putting. Location - it's location is ok, but the journey to/ from the airport is as you would expect - bad infrastructure of roads and not a comfortable ride. Journeys out for excursions were the same and took upwards of an hour to reach various places. Staff - this s tricky. Some staff were amazing and incredibly helpful and friendly. Others we not. Overall the hotel is ok. It just misses out on tweaks here and there that would make the hotel great. I think as we have been lucky enough to experience other Indian Ocean islands, and experienced the service and amenities they offer, this hotel felt a bit 'lacking'. However, if this is your first trip to the Indian Ocean area, it should be ok.

We visited the TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar for our first year wedding anniversary. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean and very well maintained by many hard working staff members. The room blocks are quite spaced out and surrounded by lots of gardens which help make the hotel seem very peaceful. It is not possible to single out any particular members of staff as everyone was genuinely brilliant and so polite. We unfortunately did not have the best start to our holiday (no fault of the hotel), as our luggage did not make it to Zanzibar airport at the same time as us. However, the reception staff helped us contact staff at the airport, and spoke with them to help ensure that our suitcases were delivered to the hotel the same day we arrived. They also arranged a lovely surprise in one of the restaurants for our anniversary and decorated our room. If you enjoy seafood, a meal at Breeze is a must. During our stay, we opted to pay for the Valentine's Day meal which was extremely well organised and felt extra special. We would not hesitate to return to this hotel. Asante sana!
