Alua Helios Bay

We've just come back from a 4-day stay at the Alua Helios Bay in Obzor, and overall we had a fantastic time. In fact, our biggest regret is probably that we didn't book a longer stay! The room was fantastic. Really spacious, clean and comfortable, with a lovely bathroom and a great, powerful shower. We had an amazing view over the beach, and waking up to the sound of the waves was honestly one of the best parts of the stay. The only thing I would say is that the rooms are starting to feel a little dated. The TV in particular could do with an upgrade. There was no ability to stream or connect to the internet, and there was only one English-language news channel, with the rest being foreign channels. Not something that bothered us too much while on holiday, but a smart TV would be a nice improvement. I'd also expect the room safe to be included rather than being an additional charge for a 4-star hotel. The food was good, with plenty of choice. It wasn't all necessarily to my personal taste, but everything we ate was nice. Breakfast in particular was excellent, while the evening meals were perfectly good. The drinks selection was also really good for an all-inclusive, with plenty of cocktails and drinks included, as well as branded soft drinks. The pool area was lovely, with plenty of sunbeds and a jacuzzi next to the pool, which was a great place to relax. The only slight confusion was with the sunbeds on the beach directly outside the hotel. We initially assumed these were included, but they are actually operated separately and cost £15. To be clear, we had no problem paying this. The gentleman collecting the money gave us a proper receipt, so it appeared completely legitimate and seemed to be a third-party operation rather than something run by the hotel. It would just have been helpful if the hotel had made this clear in the welcome information or somewhere around the hotel. A simple note saying that the beach sunbeds are operated separately and incur a charge would have avoided the confusion. The spa was probably the highlight of the whole trip. My girlfriend and I both had treatments and were absolutely blown away. The treatments were very reasonably priced, the spa itself was beautiful and relaxing, and it was a fantastic way to unwind. Definitely worth trying if you're staying here. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. There are a few things that could be improved, but they were minor and didn't detract from what was a really enjoyable holiday. We'd definitely come back & and are already pricing up dates for 2027!

We stayed here for a week in Sept 2026 and it was a great experience from start to finish. The staff were very helpful - especially Julia and Sofia on reception. Their friendliness and professionalism made such a difference to our stay. We were part of the My Favourite Club, which added a lovely touch - extra drinks in the room and tea and coffee and key to safe deposit box. We changed rooms early in the stay and the team handled it quickly and with a smile. We wanted a sea view and sunshine. The hotel is right on the beach and once we moved rooms the seaview was worth it. Clean, comfortable and well looked after. The food was perfect for me as someone who is gluten and dairy free.The buffet was varied every day. I never struggled to find anything to eat. Even managed to procure gluten free bread. The wine and beer were good too. The entertainment staff were excellent - friendly, energetic, and great at getting everyone involved in activities. The only downside was the pool, which was freezing. Beautiful to look at but definitely more of a quick dip than a swim. Luckily the sea was warmer on on your doorstep.

I got home yesterday after enjoying a lovely week, the hotel and staff were what you would expect from a 4-star hotel, I did have an issue with my shower on the first night and mentioned it to the lovely reception lady the next morning - fixed by lunchtime! There was no issue at all getting a sunbed by the pool, even if you didn't head down until later in the day. Speaking of the pool, it's freezing cold but the sea is a bit warmer which is around 100m away and easily accessed from the pool area (and there is a heated indoor pool if you prefer). Some of the food was a little repetitive but you tend to find that in these all-inclusive buffet type places, however I found the quality of the meats was good and the steak they did one night was amazing! Obzor was a lovely little town, fairly quiet due to the time of year with not all shops opening but it is kept very clean. A word of warning - the majority of shops prefer cash and don't take card. Overall I had a great time and would return. Thank you to all of the wonderful staff at the hotel, they really do work very hard!

Just came back from a brilliant week at the Alua Helios Bay hotel and we had the best time. Weather was great, never had trouble getting sun-beds in a lovely spot, staff were lovely and attentive, food was varied and there was something for everyone. Genuinely couldn’t fault the place. We had the best time and already looking to book for 2027😊 Thank you!

A 2 day dog show outside our room with dogs barking from 6.30am , and a Bulgarian workers 3 day sports events were a couple of hundred competitors stayed in our hotel and took over everything and no t questioned by staff once . Allowed to use there own speaker with there own music bellowing out in the outside area and allowed to have lots and lots of bottles of spirits of there own and drink it in front of stay both day and night . They came into entertainment room and asked bar staff to turn off the music and so they could play music through there own speaker in which the bar manager obliged , when I complained to him he was not bothered. When I complained to reception about everything they said they had lots of complaints but there was nothing they could do . I have been informed that this was a Bulgarian government funded event so these people did not even pay yet us that paid full price for a holiday was treated with no respect at all . Such a shame that this would now make me not want to ever return to Bulgaria again .
