Melia Sunny Beach

I have known this brand for a while but never stayed at any of them. If this is the standard for all Meliá hotels, then I do not need to look any further to any other brands! My wife was a bit hesitant because the hotel is huge and she was afraid that our kinds (4y & 7y) would get lost when getting ice cream or pizza or drinks. It's indeed huge but it doesn't feel crowded. In the end all the beds are taken but somehow there's a flow of people coming and going. The only line I encountered was at the burger station (also because their burgers are mighty delicious!) but even then, things went fast. The main chef (dressed in black) was always smiling and knew a bit of languages and tried to interact/connect with each guest. But as far as staff goes, everyone was friendly, engaging and just made your stay more pleasant. I did encounter some staff (mostly the cleaners) that didn't really speak English but there is so much staff there you can easily ask someone else. There was sometimes a line in the evening when the entertainment was on to get a drink but as soon there was one, there was suddenly an extra bartender until the line went back to almost zero. So you never had to wait long. Oh and also a line for the pizza station but again, the line went fast. We were in building C, had a family room on the 5th floor and I can recommend it and probably higher floors are even better because you can see the see from your balcony (and a bit of the fair on the left side). The check-in/out was smooth. Latest check-out is at noon which is ample time. We were getting picked up around 6pm, so we were offered to put our luggages in the luggage room and there's changing rooms around and even showers to get ready before you go back to the airport. The food was simply very good. I base myself on the eggs (scrambled) and the white beans in tomato sauce which mostly are a miss in the hotels I've been but this one: nailed it! All the food was good actually and because of the different restaurants, there was always room to sit. We never left building C. Also the bartenders in the lobby bar were great and once you go there a few times, they know already your order. The restaurants were constantly cleaned. You always found a spot. Once someone left, a team of 3 came to clean (1), restock (2) and clean under the table (3). Also the people behind the food, I had a few of them interacting with my 4y old, which was great. We only stayed at the kids pool so I can only speak about that one. People tend to reserve seats but they have the rule that you can't reserve (unless you are actually there of course) from 7pm until 9am and they really enforce it. This was great to see! Also non-smoking areas (especially around the kids pool) but unfortunately there were still people smoking despite the signs. I went once to complain and they immediately sent someone over to tell them but I also want to enjoy my holiday and not play the smoking police so this could be a bit more looked after. Informing the staff that when passing non-smoking areas, to keep an eye out for smokers and tell them if necessary. The slides are great, even there are only 3 and they are also very strict. There is one that (according to me) I could go on with my 4y old on my lap but I was denied because you need to be 120cm (I think) to go on the slides. So my 7y old was thrilled :) There are many lifeguards (except for the kids pool). There are a lot of seagulls though so don't leave your food and if you don't want it any more, put it in the bin (in case you eat near the pool) however they are not bossy and don't snatch food from your hands, only when no one is around. I can go on and on but yeah, my experience was top notch! Huge but well oiled hotel, friendly staff, everything clean, all smiles, connecting with their clients. Beautiful hotel, very clean and great choice of buffets. Workers in the Melia are wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable. Outside the hotel is a different matter! Supermarket workers snatch things out of children’s hands and the fun fair go karts are scammers, beware! You will pay for adults only to be told children only and no refunds given, then laugh at you. The strip is an education in itself, busy loud and chaotic which is great if you’re in your teens. Beware of pickpockets here. Would I go again, No as it wasn’t for me. There’s plenty more countries I could spend my euros in and not be scammed or insulted, Bulgaria isn’t one of them

First time in bulgaria so picked a decent hotel and hoped for the best 😂 without a doubt the biggest hotel i have ever stayed in and expected it to be manic but had nothing to worry about as it was a fantastically well run hotel. The hotel itself is massive but never at any time felt overcrowded at all. The rooms a decent size and spotlessly cleaned as was the hotel throughout. Plenty of choice for food as multiple restaurants and good choice of food at all times. The location of this hotel is amazing, literally a few minutes walk to the private area of the beach ( drinks & snacks available) or again less than 5 minutes walk into the main area of sunny beach. The standout member of staff in this hotel is nedislav who is the friendliest, happiest guy there and who makes the best burgers at lunchtime ( we ate there most afternoons rather than the restaurants as food so good) and always served with a smile. Overall i would say brilliant hotel for what we paid and enjoyed our stay so much that we are looking to re-book.

This is our third visit to the Melia Sunny Beach, says it all. This time we brought two friends and stayed in a family room, two bathrooms and a double, pool view balcony, great air conditioning, nice size room and bathroom. All food is buffet style, great variety and several restaurants with an Indian themed restaurant as well plus a pizza and burger bar serving all day. Apart from spirits, wine and beer is self service with soft drinks dispensing. Coffee dispensers are on all floors near lifts and at all bars. Plenty of sun beds around all of the outdoor pools. Hotel is clean and tidy staff cleaning all the time. Some staff we recognized from previous visits which is nice including one of the managers who on my first visit showed me one of the classic vehicles that are dotted around the hotel, in this case a vintage motorcycle, several of the restaurant staff and members of the animation team. Parents can lounge around pool areas while the kids enjoy activities and have great fun in the pools Animation team are superb, loads of activities for children and the brilliant mini disco at night, varied entertainment in the evenings. Outside of the hotel are shops, stores that see the usual holiday stuff and a funfair that comes alive in the evenings. Plenty of places to go and visit Melia has its own stretch of beach with free to use sun beds, with a snack bar and toilets, beach is spotless sea is clean. Will we come back for a fourth visit? Yes, not next year but probably the year after, our two friends who came with us for their first visit have both said that they’d love to return, this I think is the best advert any hotel can have, when guests return because they’ve had a great time.

We recently returned from a one week holiday We have found the entire staff professional, helpful, friendly and extremely customer focused. As with any holiday, it is always the staff that make the difference. And they did! And they went the extra mile! The food was amazing : extremely diverse, and there is pletnty a choice for every one. The fruits, and vegetable (I assume locally sourced), were fresh and great taste. Thsame cam be said about the rest. For me the fish ws amazing : fresh, lots of choice, etc I spoke with the Manager. She is a great too
