Secrets Sunny Beach Resort & Spa

Spent an amazing week at Secrets earlier this month. Room and view from 9th floor spectacular and our cleaner Nefi so hard working. Loads of sunbeds we did take thin blow up mattresses as warned beds were hard. Glad we did. Food superb. Nothing to fault it and we had no problem with the lifts. We will be back. Thank you everyone at Secrets.

second visit to this hotel,its beautiful, rooms are big and airy, bed sooo comfortable food great every day, staff are always friendly especially simone and radg on reception 😀, greated like family, pools are cold but lovely on a hot day I used it every day, and hotel so clean cannot fault it so we have just booked to go back next September we loved that much ,cannot wait 😀 😊 ❤️

We have just returned home from our 4th holiday in your fantastic hotel and already booking to return in 2027, from the moment you walk into reception and greated by friendly staff your holiday begins, the rooms are a pleasure to be in, the food is first class,so are all the staff the facilities are excellent both inside and outside the hotel so if you are looking for a special hotel in Bulgaria this is the one.

Just back from a weeks holiday....our first time in Bulgaria. We were very much looking forward to the trip. We checked out all the reviews beforehand and there were a few that were very negative....but had responses from the management saying they had taken everything on board and would "do better next tine"....or words to that effect!! The photos of the pools looked great and we spent extra by getting the "Preferred Suppliment". BIG MISTAKE!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! We arrived just after 10pm to be told that Dinner had stopped. This is not new to the hotel. This flight gets in EVERY week at that time and there is nothing laid on for the tired and hungry travellers apart from a sandwich and tiny cakes. Nothing hot or substantial. We weren't given any Preferred Guest information or treatment. The Preferred lounge was "soulless" and mostly empty throughout our stay. Snacks were sliced fruits (from the morning) cake, and odd cereal toppers???? Nothing savoury. Premium drinks were 4 in an optic cabinet (that I actually couldn't reach) Smirnoff Vodka, Jim Beam, Gordon's Gin and another (think it was a local brand) No variety of wines. In an ice bucket there were just their (house wine) in Red, White and Rose. Plus an opened bottle of Cava. All other bottles were on a shelf....not chilled. In the fridge cabinets were water, local beer, coke, tonic, bitter lemon. There was a box of ice....but no ice buckets!!!! There was also a coffee machine. A TV with no Premium channels so we were limited to Sky News or CNN. No movies. This was the same for your room TV. You can't even plug in a fire stick or cast from your phone! There is only one TV in the communal area.....WITH NO SOUND!! The pool photos looked great and with the added indoor pool, we were looking forward to a swim every day. Both the outdoor and indoor pools were like ICE!!!!! We went into the indoor pool for literally 2 minutes. Even the indoor jacuzzi pool was freezing!!! So, to one side of the pool area is a big sign "Preferred Guests Only".....but no-one checks and there's nothing special or different about it. No-one comes round with drinks ir snacks (which is what they do in other Secrets Hotels) and to get a drink *by the shortest route) you have to go out of the hotel on to the public path and up a long flight of steps (not great when you are carrying drinks and cannot hold the handrail) or have a very long walk around all the pools and sun loungers of the "non-preferred guests". HOW STUPID IS THAT!!! What's the point of this area at all?? Next.....as a Preferred Guest couple our minibar on arrival consisted of ONE packet of peanuts and ONE miniature bottle if Gordon's Gin....and a miniature of a local spirit that looked like a whisky, water and soft drinks. Can someone please remind me what we paid that extra supplement for????? Despite complaining to Reception....being assured that it would be rectified....the room servicing staff never got the memo!! Even after catching the staff with there trolley, they could only give me one miniature gin for us TO SHARE!! The room was clean but the attention to detail missing. The bed was huge which is a bonus...but the sheet wouldn't fit or tuck in..so by morning you're sleeping in a crumpled sheet or the bare mattress!!! Stocks of the powdered milk and sugar were a hit or miss. And apart from that one packet of peanuts that we had to share....no other snacks were left in the minibar throughout our holiday. The Market Cafe restaurant was awful. Noisy, with chairs scraping on the tiled floors, and your plate snatched away from you the second you put your cutlery down....despite the other person still eating. We hate this!!! What made it awful though were the trolleys around the restaurant where the clearing staff would pile dirty dishes, glasses etc with an attachment for "food slops". These were in full view of the diners and at busy times .....literally inches from a table of diners!!! How disgusting!!! MANAGEMENT PLEASE READ THIS....create an area(s) which are screened off out of view of diners. Scrapping plates of leftover food into a bucket next to diners eating is something you do not get in the cheapests of restaurants so why do it in a "supposed" 5 star Secrets Brand Hotel???? We tried the bookable restaurants (Fish, Italian and Asian) and thankfully had a much better experience in them. TIP: Suggest you book the later sitting as the service is extremely rushed at the 6:30pm sitting. Finally on departure, we had a whole day before our transfer. You can use all the facilities after you check out at 11am and get food and drinks as normal. However, if you wish to get a shower, really think this through. There are shower cubicles on the lower floor (gym) and at the far end of the toilets next to the Preferred Lounge. But in order to use them, you have to leave your clothes/bag/belongings/passport!!! in the communal area or they get wet. Bad design of the facilities. You can't even lock the door to the communal area. We eventually managed by using the disabled room...which did not have a shower. Overall, there were way too many irritating things for us to say "yes....we enjoyed our holiday". This was exacerbated by the fact that WE PAID EXTRA for a service that was non-existent or very poor and that makes the experience poor value for money.

I am writing this on our last day here.... let's start with the only negative we have, the sunbeds need a cushion/mattress we have stayed in 3 star hotels in Tunisia that have them, so this 5 star hotel should have them too. The beds in the room are very soft, but that's just preference, but the room itself is spacious and kept clean every day, our lady was Raya, thank you. The hotel itself is amazing, the vast majority of the staff are polite and friendly, it's very clean and tidy, the food is good with plenty of variety. A special shout out to Kristi, the entertainment team, the yoga in the morning was brilliant and she was always friendly whenever we spoke to her. The pools are very cold, they don't even get better once you're in, but once again just preference, the beach and sea were perfect though. We would definitely recommend the hotel and will return.
