Hotel Aurora Plava Laguna

We spent our family holiday at Hotel Aurora Plava Laguna in Umag. Overall our impression is positive – the hotel is a good choice for families, but there are a few things worth knowing in advance. What we liked: • Excellent location, right by the sea. • Sandy beach only about 200 metres away – perfect with children. • Friendly and helpful staff. • Tasty and varied food. • Clean and tidy environment. • Park-view rooms are quiet and allow good rest. What we didn’t like / warnings: • The air conditioning only allows adjusting the fan speed, not the temperature. Our room was warm. We reported it, but essentially only a cleaning was done, and communication was difficult. • Sea-view rooms are noisy. Single glazing means the hotel entertainment/music can be clearly heard every evening around 22:30–23:00. It’s hard to sleep peacefully, even though these rooms cost more. • Although it is a 4-star hotel and has been renovated, it is not the most modern or nicest-looking property. Summary: If you book a park-view room, you can expect a pleasant and relaxing family stay. The location, beach and food make it worthwhile. However, the sea-view side and the limited air-conditioning control should be taken into account. Overall the hotel is good, and we would gladly return with the right room type.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to many families. The pictures on the website do not match at all what the rooms look like and much of the communal parts of the hotel need updating. It is seriously very over priced. For 2 nights to pay €630 was not worth it all all. The poolside is lovely and relaxing. However the buffet, despite a wide range of range and was poor quality. Not much for children and sugar soft drinks and water on offer. No coffee at dinner in the restaurant. When we asked them for a glass of cold milk for our 6 year old daughter. We were allowed one glass and told we couldn’t have anymore at dinner and told we could get some after dinner at the bar. This we felt was poor for a 4 star all inclusive hotel.

Totally failure. Dirty room, bad food. From positiveonly garden i close to sea.

Good:sea is very close to the hotel Bad: everything else. the staff is terrible. especially the pepi club staff, which was the reason why we chose this hotel. when we left, i forgot some jewelry in the room. we called them for 3 days before they managed to "ask" the cleaners if they found anything. of course nothing was found. i'm not even surprised. i'll never go back

As usual, I had a good read of a lot of negative reviews before we booked and ignored most of them . Hotel is a bit old fashioned in places but it’s kept so clean you don’t mind. People complain about no sun beds but I’m writing this pool side in 30 degree heat and there are plenty of free beds if you get out of bed before 10! Staff at front desk are as friendly as any I’ve met and if you actually take time to engage with some of the others it’s the same. Food, yes it’s busy at peak hours but if you don’t like it busy, eat outside these times. Some have commented the food is the same but you get a good choice all day. My only negative comment would be the aircon in the bedroom wasn’t good and I couldn’t sleep but would just have a long nap poolside. So if you come here and look for negatives you’ll find them but as I’m here on holiday I thoroughly enjoyed the positives.
