Hotel Materada Plava Laguna

The hotel is large and beautifully landscaped. The bedrooms however are small. No place to store a suitcase. Nice and clean. Staff not that friendly. Woman at the lobby bar was just really really rude. No possibility to make drinks in the room- and refused coffee to purchase in the evening- rudely declined. Hotel caters mainly for German- which is fine- but we didn't feel welcomed. Air-conditioning was turned off so we couldn't choose our room temperature. Breakfast ok but very samey. Again rude service-- clearing cutlery and condiments while still eating 15 mins before end of service. Feel we were treated poorly compared to other guests. Also watch sunbeds near sea front at hotel. You have to pay for them although on hotel grounds. Also be aware that this hotel us about a 30min walk from Porec old town

The hotel is otherwise tidy, the food is average, breakfast is the same every day. We have a comment about the elevator. They only have 2 elevators, in one the button for the floor with the restaurant does not work, so you have to wait for the other elevator. Generally you have to wait for the elevator for a long time. One part of the hotel does not have an elevator. The room is very small. 4 people (2 adults, 2 children) were put in a room where you can't even step sideways on the floor next to the bed because they are so close together, it has one wardrobe, one shelf. We wanted to change rooms at the reception but they didn't want to give us a bigger one. the beach is very close and there is a lot of shade, a big plus

We were having a group visit and the hotel got a list of guests, but they couldn't place us in the right rooms, and instead of that the underage receptionists have been very rude while their superior manager was standing next to them stiff as a tree, unwilling to resolve the situation. My colleague wanted to cancel his stay and get a private accomodation instead. As I was passing by, I have even heard some similar situations with other guests. So, if you can avoid it, my recommendation is that you do, or in case you're in a mood for arguing with the hotel staff lacking common basic culture which people normally get during their home upbringing, and not to mention the lack of communication skills, this hotel might be the right choice! 😃 I've been traveling a lot around the world, but still I managed to be taken by surprise here in Croatia...

The elevator didnt work, one only worked for 2 floors and the second one only worked for 3 floors. It was a real struggle because we were traveling with a person in a wheelchair. In the hotel there are only 3 elevators witch is to few and the 3th didnt go to all floor. Also our room had a pool view and they had some entertainment until 11-12 everynight and the rooms are not soundproofed. So little sleep for us. The curtains in our room were to short so all the sun came in our room every morning.

The room was beautiful and clean. Everything else, however, was a complete disaster. The food was tasteless (never before have I been served pork liver, burnt fish sticks, etc., in a hotel), and the cutlery was dirty. Dirty sunbeds by the pool, dirty tables, non-functioning air conditioning, elevators. In short, I do not recommend this hotel.
