I genuinely feel like this hotel is misleading guests. Avoid this hotel at all costs if you are booking for the “peaceful beachfront” experience they continue to advertise everywhere. We booked Candi Beach Resort & Spa back in September 2025 for a March 2026 stay. The hotel heavily advertised beautiful beachfront views, serenity and peaceful surroundings both in their marketing and even in the booking confirmation itself. What they DIDN’T tell us was that the beach directly in front of the resort would later be completely disrupted by major coastal construction works and beach closures. The most concerning part is that the hotel is STILL plastering social media and promotional material everywhere showing calm beaches and paradise-style beachfront settings which currently do not reflect reality at all. Guests are clearly still being encouraged to book based on an experience the hotel knows is significantly affected. Yes, the works may be government-led, but the way this hotel handled the situation was honestly disgraceful. We discovered the issue ourselves via social media — not through the hotel. We contacted the hotel multiple times to try and resolve things but they refused to refund us and repeatedly hid behind a “non-refundable” policy despite admitting the beach was closed. So despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue with the hotel, all they kept telling me was that it was a non refundable rate. But what the hotel didnt realise is that I know my rights! So on the day of the booking, we did NOT check in. As other guests have also mentioned in reviews, guests are apparently asked to sign waivers at check-in relating to the beach situation. My advice to anyone affected is to think very carefully before checking in and, if necessary, speak to your Visa or Mastercard provider regarding your options. It was only AFTER we escalated the matter into a chargeback dispute with our card provider that they suddenly agreed to refund us. That alone speaks volumes. I actually received two emails from the hotel within hours of each other weeks after the chargeback was raised. The first said that because we had not checked in, no refund was due because the booking was non-refundable. Then, just hours later, another email suddenly arrived saying management had “re-reviewed” the case and agreed to refund us as a “gesture of goodwill”. Funny timing considering our card provider had already contacted them regarding the dispute. They then stated the refund would arrive within 14–28 days. The refund never arrived from the hotel within that timeframe. Instead, the refund ultimately came via the chargeback process through our bank. What makes this even more disappointing is that we are repeat guests of Maya Ubud Resort & Spa, which staff previously told us is a sister property under the same management. We have always loved Maya Ubud, but after this experience my trust in the wider group has been seriously damaged and I will genuinely question booking with them again in future. I honestly think this hotel is playing a very dangerous game by continuing to market a tranquil beachfront paradise while knowing full well the beachfront experience has been massively impacted. Future guests: do your research VERY carefully before booking. I hope my review helps some people because what the hotel is doing is very wrong. If you read my reviews, you will see that I always aim to stay fair and reasonable when reviewing

Beautiful resort, exceptional staff & great facilities. Highly recommend to travelers looking for a relaxing holiday in a gorgeous quiet location in East Bali. Resort is 5 star & staff are definitely 6 stars. We went swimming at Virgin Beach & snorkeling at Blue Lagoon with hundreds of tropical fish-both amazing experiences. We treated us like stars & we made some incredible memories. Also enjoyed our massages & photo shoot😍

We stayed at Candi Beach Resort & Spa again and we really like going there. Our Ocean View suite was top class. They have a lot of other room and villa type options available. The restaurant/s menu options and the food was excellent. We were even able to order two special three course dinners and we were really impressed with the result. One dinner was traditional seafood 'Bakso' which was cooked at our table, and the other dinner was fresh lobster 'Balinese style' also cooked in front of us. The Executive Chef and his team are first class and nothing is too hard for them to do. The hotel grounds are spacious and very peaceful and they have three swimming pools. The staff and management are wonderful and always smiling and are happy to carry out any request. There are a number of other local restaurants outside the hotel close by which give you alternative dining options. Candi Beach Resort & Spa is a great place to relax and unwind and enjoy your holiday away from the normal hustle and bustle of the Kuta area resorts. Congratulations to Candi Beach Resort. We will certainly return again.
