Riu Vistamar

We cannot fault this hotel. This was our first time here, staying for one week (15th October 2026). Having knowledge of the previous reviews, we were a little hesitant, however, we were blown away by the cleanliness of the hotel, helpfulness of the staff and quality of the food. There is also a wide range of actives. We were able to book into both restaurants in between using the main restaurant. The food was delicious. The sports bar has a great vibe and is open 24 hours. The drinks range is good and yes a couple of the cocktails were pre-made and that was not a problem. There is draft beer and wine on tap to enjoy with a wide ranges of spirits. The rooms are spacious and clean, towels changed every day. The entertainment is fun and professional and the pools are well managed. The bus to the beach is always on time and you can walk to Puerto Rico taking about 25 minutes along the promenade. The beach is beautiful and the sea is safe for swimming. Although we didn’t have children with us there’s a fantastic range of activities for them. We did not experience any of the claims made by previous reviews and did not hear one negative comment about the hotel. If you are considering booking please do. It’s great!

I read the reviews before we came, we had already booked and then I was filled with dread because I read about the sickness. I was a little worried as we were coming with our 2 young children and our 2 adult sons. Anyhow…… we are currently here now, 4th night. I have to say this hotel is absolutely amazing!! AMAZING!! On the first night we arrived, around 9/9:30pm our little 3 year old girl was absolutely exhausted from the flight and then transfer, we walked o into reception and was greeted by a lady with short dark hair and glasses and a gentleman also dark hair, both smiling at us as we walked in. They could see how distressed our daughter was and the first thing the two of them did was prioritise the needs of my little girl. The gentleman said to my husband, here’s your card to your room, il Show you where, get this little girl to her room and your wife can stay and check in with his colleague. They were absolutely brilliant and what a welcome they gave us. I’m gutted I didn’t get their names because they deserve credit for this and what a team they made. So THANK YOU so much you amazing pair. Now the rest of hotel, I have witnessed the staff in restaurants working so hard and endlessly to bend over backwards for everyone, always greeted anytime we showed up for meals, a smile from everyone and making an effort to say hello to the children. We’re all inclusive, plenty of food, always found something lovely to eat. All inclusive is the same everywhere you go, I don’t know what people expect 😂 I have very fussy eaters and we’ve all managed perfectly to fill our tummies and we’ve all enjoyed it. The cleaners, again no one stops in this place making the hotel look incredible. It’s very clean everywhere you go and the rooms have been cleaned everyday! Hand sanitizer everywhere around the hotel, shame a lot of people just stare at it on the walls and look the other way. We all have been using hand sanitizer before and after we eat and all throughout the days we’ve been here, afterall it is a big hotel with a lot of people staying here so your going to get germs unless you take care!! Entertainment, we’ve loved watching our little ones enjoy running around by the stage area listening to music and dancing and enjoyed watching the shows. The pools are all great, the views are out of this world, lush beaches and genuinely a bloody good holiday at an amazing hotel. Literally have nothing to complain about other than we wish we were staying longer 😢 would we come back? Absolutely we would if it wasn’t for the fact we like to visit other places. I have physical health issues which I was a little sceptical about but we’ve managed just fine getting out and about here, there and everywhere. I’m not dismissing the fact people have fallen unwell and it’s a shame to fall poorly whilst on holiday, but my honest opinion, I don’t think this is something that falls on the hotel. Not from what Iv seen with my own eyes how everyone is working so hard to keep it so clean. I think this is an issue from lack of hygiene where others are not washing hands and touching things where germs spread. My children haven’t touched anything in the restaurants, Iv served them their food as I know what they do and don’t like and we have also taken care when serving our own and we’ve been absolutely fine. This hotel deserves recognition for its efforts, and all the amazing staff that work endlessly for us to be able to enjoy such a wonderful holiday. Thank you vistamar!! ❤️ 100% would recommend this hotel to anyone. Please don’t be put off by what you read. Some reviews are so picky, and I suggest if your that sort of person then go book a 5star! I’d definitely book again and think we will come back at some point 😁🙌

Huge hotel on the top of a cliff so the views are amazing. 3 Pools on different levels. Food is plentiful if a little repetitive. We were all inclusive. The hotel is busy...and I would say not great for anyone with limited mobility although lifts served all floors. coach goes down to the beautiful beach a few times a day...and brings you back. Beach beds are not expensive like some places. We never had a problem getting a pool lounger nor waiting more than 2 minutes at the bars for drinks. The food is mainly buffet style although you can book ahead for the restaurants...we had no luck getting in the asian restaurant at the Riu. Not a great system to book table...get the Riu app when in hotel. Wifi excellent all around the place and free. Entertainment is enthusiastic and the rock show was amazing. The team were so good. Pool exercises too..all for fun...Bingo too if you like that sort of thing. All in all very relaxing time had. Mogan is a trip worth doing, about 20 Euros in a cab..beautiful town with beach. Lovely restaurants and nice feel. Puerto Rico in evening is for the nightlife...busy and lots of shops. Beers (large) in cafes were 3-4 euros. Cabs great and not expensive and plenty of them! My biggest compliment is to the staff at the Riu...they were all amazing...going above and beyond to be helpful. Would travel there again...a great time had by all.

We stayed with friends for a 65th birthday Rooms were great . Fabulous sea views . We requested 3 things re room floor and view of amadores etc and got them . Staff all friendly and helpful. Neon party was great fun Food always good and lots of choice . Drinks ok for all inclusive although cocktails weren’t great and very sweet . Pools were fab No sign of any sickness bug whatsoever Hotel was spotless sanitizer everywhere . I was shocked to see women using toilets and not washing their hands I even told 2 of them to wash their hands . So maybe people should look at themselves to see why they become ill or possibly drink less alcohol or sugary drinks We had a great time . Staff were fab Hotel looking a bit tired in places perhaps just needs a quick spruce up . But well done Rui vistamar we had a blast

We stayed here for ten days in mid September. Four days after arriving, both my wife and I contracted the dread sickness bug that seems to happen alot in this hotel. We didn’t leave our room for three days as a result and my wife was hospitalised as a result. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Booking a stay here is like playing russian roulette.
