Servatur Waikiki

This is the eighth time we have stayed at this hotel and are booked again twice for next year first in April for my husbands 60th . This hotel is friendly and situated in a great position for the town and for the beach which is about a 15 minute stroll away . The food is exceptional we have never been hungry nor had to think about what to eat there is so much choice . The rooms are big and the beds are very comfy . We were here Sept into October meeting all the friends we have made over the years in the turbo rock bar which is also amazing

Overall good value,rooms a little small and can be noisy at some times with all thats going on food plentyfull if repetitive I would stay again

I hadn’t read the reviews before I booked this hotel and, after I did, I was concerned about the food, the staff, the cockroaches and more! How wrong I was. This is one of the best all inclusive hotels I have stayed in. I was a solo traveller, staying as an all inclusive guest. Food: great selection, with such a wide variety. I have some intolerances but could always find things for me. Definitely check out the snack bar - quick and easy. Bar and drinks: quick service. Easily accessible self pour soft drinks, wine and beer. Really rated the slush puppy cocktails! Room: clean. Modern. Everything it needed to be. If I had one complaint, I had two single beds and it would have been great to have them as a double instead! Massive shout out to the maid (room 714), she was so lovely and would time when she was cleaning with when I was going out. She always said hello and asked how I was. Never met a more friendly maid! Reception: all the staff were friendly, but I need to shout out to the female member of staff, around 30 and with glasses, she often worked in the afternoons. She was so knowledgeable and willing to help. She knew every bus route, could suggest tours and local restaurants, if you wanted a meal out. Entertainment: full day programme of activities, although I didn’t really get involved. My only real criticism of the hotel is the lack of variety in the evening entertainment. I think 6 out of the 7 main acts were either solo or duo singers and it got very samey. I went out a couple of nights to experience something different but I didn’t like doing this as it meant I was paying for drinks that I could have got free in the hotel. Overall, so much better than I was picturing! Have no worries about what people have said about the food, the friendliness of staff, etc. They are so wrong! There were none of these issues for me. Would definitely visit again!

However, I feel it is necessary to report a series of serious issues that compromised our stay. 4800+ unexpected expenses at the Servatur hotel +1500 flight and insurance. 1. When we entered the room, the bathroom sink was not working. Full of water and hair. 2. As a welcome, we were served smelly and rotten meat. I don't know if anyone checks this. However, we handed the waitress 2 plates with a much better smell and we also invited the waitress to smell this famous dish, which was then taken back to the cook. Someone could have ended up seriously ill!! All the hidden meat was taken back by the cook. 3. Pool safety non-existent. Lifeguard hidden or busy removing glasses without any control over the pool. 4. The large bathroom where the karaoke is located is nice, but there is no anti-slip surface. Out of 28 days, I counted 24. Bruises, people falling, slipping from the stairs or flying through the air up to 1.5 m high, as in my case with a finger broken in a half-moon shape, which I had to straighten, and I also have photos. 5. Pool water barely changed: after 1 day, eye infection, far too much chlorine. Pool bottom very slippery, I slipped and fell. Others too. 6. TV antenna from the 1st to the 28th not working, intermittent, going on and off. 7. Reception staff incapable of gathering information and solving the structure's problems. 8. Incapable of withdrawing money from a credit card. 9. Elevator not checked: we were almost crushed, with a small bruise on our arms, because the door closed by itself without seeing us, no sensor detected us. 10. Room stinking of grass smoked by someone and air conditioning with unchecked filters: you could smell it strongly at the bed. 11. On the terrace, guests on the floor below started smoking marijuana, very strong smell. 12. Several times the floor lighting did not turn on. 13. After asking to be able to wash in a sink like adults, paying 4800++ euros, after 5 days of arguing, reporting it to reception, and with the manager who took us as a joke, thinking we were mocking him, but who then saw with his own eyes the photos, we had to go to another hotel, NH Las Palmas, 1 hour from the hotel, which fortunately gave us the possibility to wash. We certainly had to pay (separately). 14. It is forbidden in the pool to use the volleyball, private use with children in the middle. Inflatable mattresses with ignorant people on top. People jumping headfirst into the pool continuously. No control over the pool, lifeguard non-existent. 15. Attention also to one point: 1a) All inclusive refers only to drinks, not to the whole service. 2b) Rooms do not have everything included: the minibar is paid, 180 euros, then there was a game with 2 minibars placed without permission, it looked like a shop selling inside the room. So I do not want to be hostile towards anyone, but you see for yourselves. Previous reviews are either pretty good or terrible as a seasoned traveller I would rate the hotel as the former not the latter. The hotel consists of 5 accommodation blocks around a very large swimming pool and spacious buffet restaurant. Rooms are clean and spacious, large bathroom and shower. Beds comfortable and plenty of cupboard space. Aircon but no fridge or kettle. TV has English terrestrial channels BBC, ITV, C4 & C5. For some reason reception in the evening was very ropey but perfect in the mornings. Restaurant large offering buffet menu I would rate as above average compared to many but like all buffet menus can get samey on a lot of items. Desserts good choice including chocolate fountain and whippy ice cream machine. Self serve wines, beer, coke, Fanta etc available all meals and tea and coffee. AI drinks includes Cava including Rose Cava, draught beer all locally produced spirits and mixers, branded drinks available for small extra charge eg Jack D 4 euros. Evening entertainment excellent with live singers every evening and not shows run by animation teams that you usually get. The hotel also has separate underground sound proofed night club. There was a full timetable of daytime activities which I didn’t take part in. There was a bus stop outside for destinations all over the island. Distance to beach around 20 mins walk and 10 minutes to resort centre. Overall excellent choice for a stay in playa del ingles.
